We regret to report the passing of Joel T. Rosenthal, medieval studies scholar and professor emeritus at Stony Brook University.

Professor Rosenthal was a founding editor and later a member of the executive board of the journal Medieval Prosopography (succeeded by Medieval People) for a total of 46 years. He also served as the series editor for the TEAMS Documents of Practice series for over 30 years. His legacy has had a far-reaching impact in the field of medieval studies and beyond, and he will be greatly missed.
