I have another handmade petoskey stone necklace for sale. This one was a large rock from lake Michigan that was cut into a thin sheet by my good friend and avid rock hunter Joe Petrosky. I then used a masonry hole saw to get a perfectly round blank, polished it and did a lot of silversmithing to get to this point. The stone was sliced and polished then surrounded by .925 sterling silver crown pattern binding wire and hung from a .925 sterling silver 20" cable chain. The silver is set in such a way that the pendant is reversible and the stone visible from both sides. The stone is also sliced thin enough that light will pass through it giving it a wonderful effect yet still be sturdy enough to stand the test if time. I have a small petoskey stone and sterling silver pendant on a 20" sterling silver box chain necklace for sale. The stone is visible from both sides so the necklace is reversible. The stone was hand picked locally and polished by my dear friend and avid rock collector (conveniently named Joe Petroskey.) I did all the silversmithing and metal work after the fact. Another project down and another satisfied customer. Justin and I briefly discussed design prior to my starting and he left me with full creative control. I'm very pleased to say he loves it and it exceeded his expectations. His biggest complaint with another ring he had was how uncomfortable it is to wear and immediately after slipping this on he fell in love and the fact that something so sharp looking can feel smooth is exactly what I hoped for!

(For those that don't know Justin, he is very passionate about all things boat and this is the logo for the manufacturer of his boat.)

Story time: A little over 5 years ago I made my first couple rings. They were very simple, a copper wire with the head of a nickel nail for a design. At the time I didn't realize how that could be an issue. I posted about them and one of my friends immediately said she'd like to buy one. I sold her the ring and I can only assume she had the same issue as everyone else who has handled copper and it probably turned her finger green, although she never complained to me. Fast forward 5 years later and I now have the tools, ability and knowledge to build much more complex jewelry and I thought I should do something to acknowledge my growth and show my appreciation for my first customer and supportive friend Kirsten. So I made this ring from Sterling Silver with her initial stamped into it and surprised her with it. I hope you all enjoy the pictures and the story(:

Well this definitely surpasses the last project in terms of work involved and skill required. This was a long process but I'm happy with the results! Even more possibilities and projects to come!

This one has been quite the process, by far the most challenging piece I've made. From computer design to chemistry to good old fashioned hand saws, files and torches. It was all worth it to see how excited Justin was!
