Sending aloha 🫶🏽 to ALL the vendors who worked hard and showed up for MIH. I have never been to MIH as a vendor or a shopper. My post was not meant to shade anyone who was there with goods made overseas. We are all working hard to support our families. These pāpale were the start of Hale Pua.
The ONE product I launched
with the last of my savings and a p**e.

Six years later, Hale Pua is still thriving.
It sustained our ‘ohana through some tough times.

For a few reasons, I stopped selling hats.

But I’m bringing them back for a limited preorder release. Mostly for those who email and message me begging me to offer them again.

They are handmade of Lafite straw, a sustainable Lauhala alternative fiber.

nothing can replace human creativity.

there is no shortcut for carefully staging your goods with thoughtfully chosen items.

there is no replicating shadows playing with natural sunlight.

even the sound of a barking dog and my yard man mowing are part of what I love about this shot.

it’s real.

and I made it for you in hopes that you will want to recreate this moment for yourself.
