A funny thing happened recently. A friend asked me for some advice on helping her daughter with DIY wedding flowers. One thing led to another, and I ended up traveling to Chicago to help bring the vision to life. One of the bride's friends approached me at the wedding because she manages a floral shop in KC and they needed a bit of help. So, for the past few weeks I've been doing some freelance floral work for Bramble & Stem and having a blast dipping back into the flower pond! If anyone needs flowers for any occasion, I highly recommend this shop. They are locally owned and a great bunch of folks doing outstanding work!

Hot Sunday afternoon with the pups at Wayside Waifs. There are so many good dogs there now, looking for loving homes or fosters.
Bell - a big baby! 4 months old. Playful and sweet.
Jaime - smart young man who learns fast and loves to use his nose
Zeus - also just a baby, but already housetrained, knies some commands and ready to learn more
Paisley - a puppy mill rescue who needs emotional support to learn about being a dog

Tuesday morning with the waifs at . They have a wide range of adoptable dogs right now, from energetic puppies to chill mature dogs; dogs that crave action and dogs that crave affection; big dogs to little dogs. They also have many opportunities to help. Not sure you're ready to adopt? Become a foster or shelter volunteer! Or just go visit the pups. They always love to see folks coming through the kennels.

Probably the closest I've ever gotten to a heron, definitely with the dog. This was one of four (!!) we saw yesterday on Heritage Lake at Heritage Park. This was our first visit, would definitely return.

Stop and smell the roses, er...stop and notice the small things around you. The world is a big, scary, difficult place so much of the time. Connecting for a few minutes with the small creatures that share space with us often helps me feel calmer.

Lovely Tues morning with the dogs at Wayside. I've been remiss in posting the pups lately. These are some very good boys and girls, who need good homes! They can also use some new friends. If you're not looking for a permanent dog, maybe you would consider fostering or volunteering? It's been truly rewarding for me and I am learning so many new skills to use with my own dogs.
