In May of 2013, Danni Parrelman and Jordan Carr, 2-young artists purchased the historic 2-story mixed-use building. Although if I recall correctly there were no floors and was environmentally contaminated. It was a complete redevelopment. The building was constructed in the 1890's but since the city directories of Kansas City did not index by address until 1916, the first recorded tenant in 1911 served as Wirthman-Hill Drug Co. a local chain with locations throughout KC. The property served as a drugstore, barbershop, bakery, billiards hall, tire service, and hat cleaners, until finally it became the home of Sterling Automotive Supply in the 1940's. Sterling vacated the property in 1987, and the property had since been empty. I am proud to have been a part, thankful for my experience, and want to applaud Danni and Jordan for their vision, pioneering work and becoming a catalytic impact for what has become a thriving neighborhood community that we now refer to as Tower East KC
