This Custom Shop Tele came to us from our friend playing incredibly uncomfortable. After digging in, we decided a refret was the right call.

We used the PLEK to cut a 7.25”–9.5” compound radius into the fretboard, retaining the vintage feel in the lower positions with no choke on bends up high. The edges of this neck were beautifully rounded, so after fretting we took time to restore that contour rather than sharpen it up. Lacquer touchup on the fingerboard, new nut, and it plays like it was always meant to.

AH NUTS! this came in with a busted nut and the client requested a bone replacement. that’s all well and good, but you can’t just go slapping any ‘ol nut in there. music man basses after 2005 have compensated nuts as a standard, so that means the distance from the front edge of the nut shelf to the first fret is a bit shorter and a regularly carved nut won’t let the bass play in tune. we started off by fitting a blank and having the machine do the slots and top shaping. from there we measured the compensation on the old nut and got to hogging with a dremel. came out great and the bass plays in tune! come see us for all your nut needs!

EVERTUNE || we’ve set up hundreds of equipped guitars over the years and we really like them. the ability to set your preferred perfect bend or even no bend at all and maintain perfect tuning is awesome, especially when recording and playing live. this one took a ride in the machine and got a custom buffalo horn nut. the plek is a nut making game changer; we can dial it in to perfectly cut and space for any number of strings and gauges. enjoy!

it’s always fun to have our work from years past come in for a little love. this oh-10 needed a little help getting back to the condition it was in when it left the first time. we reset the mastery bridge and trem back to our factory settings and gave the frets a once over in the PLEK. the PLEK let us see some (extremely minor) inconsistencies in the fretwork that our feeble human eyes would have never caught otherwise. this thing is ready to head back to Alejandro in CA!

just wrapped up this fender custom shop nocaster. this guy was in pretty rough shape, but after using our PLEK to correct the radius, doing some fret slot reinforcement and getting some new frets in there, it’s doing much better. we rounded home with a brand new set of groove master saddles,an unbleached bone nut and a PLEK fret level and this sucker is playing better than it ever has before! and in tune!
