Calling in a Few Favors... ❤️
If you've known me for very long, you know this post isn't easy for me to write.
For the past ten years, Martin's Memories has been one of the greatest adventures of my life. A total of 15 years here in the historic West Bottoms. It's been filled with incredible people, amazing treasures, more dust than any human should inhale in a lifetime, and enough heavy furniture to qualify as my lifelong gym membership.
Over those ten years, I somehow convinced myself that one person could manage six floors of a 133-year-old building. Looking back, that's a pretty ambitious (or maybe just plain stubborn!) idea. The truth is, no one person should be trying to care for six floors, thousands of square feet, endless stairs, and enough inventory to stock a small town. I'm finally being wise enough to admit that downsizing is the right move.
Maybe it took a few knocks on the head—literally and figuratively—to convince me. 😄
But life has a funny way of changing our priorities.
Somewhere along the way, we reach an age where our parents need us more than they ever have. Grandkids grow up faster than we can believe. Time with family becomes more valuable than another weekend spent knee-deep in dirt, hauling furniture, or trying to save "just one more" old treasure.
That's where I find myself.
I'm not closing Martin's Memories—I'm simply downsizing and beginning a new chapter that gives me more time for the people who matter most while still doing what I love.
And here's the best part: I'm not giving up the part I love most. The customers who have become friends, the dealers who have shared this journey with me, the stories, the laughter, the treasure hunting, and the relationships we've built over the last ten years are what made this place special. Those are the things that have filled my heart, and I don't plan on giving them up anytime soon. If anything, this change lets me enjoy them even more.
Now I'm asking for a little help from the people who have always cheered me on.
The easiest way you can help is by sharing my sale flyers on Facebook and social media. Every share reaches people I could never reach on my own.
If you have a few hours over the next couple of weekends, I'd also love a little help during the sale. I'm not asking anyone to help empty the building (don't panic!). I could simply use a few extra hands helping customers, carrying furniture, loading purchases, answering questions, or just keeping me from trying to lift something that I have absolutely no business lifting anymore.
After all... my brain still thinks I'm 35. My knees, back, and shoulders have formed their own committee and strongly disagree. 😄
For ten years, you've watched me build Martin's Memories one piece at a time. I'd love for the people who've encouraged me all these years to help me write this next chapter.
Whether you can share a post, volunteer for a few hours, stop by to say hello, come shop the sale, or simply keep me in your prayers during this transition, I will be more grateful than you know.
Thank you for believing in me, supporting me, and loving me through every chapter of this crazy adventure.
Love you all. Vickie R. Rehrer
