This undated photo of a Cherokee girl identified as Ola Duck is part of the Oklahoma Historical Society ’s collection. Ola was born in 1904 to John and Sarah Duck, who enrolled their only surviving daughter for Cherokee Nation citizenship in 1906. Ola married at 16 years old. By 1930, she and her husband, Louis Cormack, lived with her widowed mother in Claremore, Oklahoma, operating Duck’s Rooming House. In later years, the couple ran a café and farm. Ola died in 1985.
