Honest take: The Germ isn’t for everybody.

It’s not a popular color. Most guys never pull it. But my buddy in Kona has been running it, and he keeps sending me photos like this.

Not saying it replaces your confidence lure. Saying it’s the one you put out when the confidence lure isn’t getting bit.

One thing you can see in his photos: he’s not running the same skirt twice.

Different colors, flashabou, plain skirts, all kinds of combinations. And the head keeps working. That’s the thing about The Germ head, it’s very versatile in terms of skirt selection.

So if you’ve got skirts sitting in the bag you’ve been wanting to try, this is a head that’ll let you experiment

The crew on Reel Addiction III has been putting fish on the dock all season with Tsutomu lures in the boat.

The Disco Vampire, Steady Eddie, Ice Blue and Purple Silver colorways have been the consistent producers for them this year. Ahi after ahi, different days, different conditions, same result. That is what happens when you find the colors that are working and you trust them. The kids holding fish as big as they are, that says everything you need to know about how the day went.

When the bite is on, you want lures that are proven and don't let you down. These have been doing exactly that for Reel Addiction III this season.

A friend came to visit from Kona. We had the U5s sitting on top of the desk, waiting to be photographed for the website. Before any of that, we let him take a few right off the table.

He traveled back to Kona on his boat and caught shibi, ono, and mahi on the U5. He was like, wow, this thing works pretty good. So he ran it a couple more times and kept catching on it. Caught some more onos too. Now he swears by this lure.

He just can’t believe it. That’s the legend of the U5, and how well this colorway actually works. And that’s how it happens, you know?

So now, when we run out of U5 skirts and we’ve gotta make these again, it just goes to show, he’ll be in line waiting. Guaranteed.

He topped it all off with an ahi yesterday, and this is how the legendary colors get rediscovered.

Two ahi. Two Tsutomu lures. One day on Reel Addiction III.

Captain JR () ran the 7” Ali’i Invert in Disco Vampire and the Strawberry Pearl and got bit on both. That’s the kind of session that reminds you why color and shape matter when the fish are around.

The Disco Vampire Invert is one of our most consistent producers - dark contrast with that disco flash that fires when the sun’s high and the fish are looking up. It’s live on the site right now.

The Strawberry Pearl is harder to come by. It’s not retired, we just can’t get the supplies to pour it consistently.

When the materials show up, we build a batch. When they don’t, we don’t. The only way to grab one when we pour them again is to be on the email list. We say it every single time because it’s true - the list gets first crack before anything goes public.

Two different shapes, two different angles. The 7” Ali’i Invert running short and aggressive, the Pearl running long and heavy. Both got bit.

The latest release for the 5” Aku Bone draws from the colors of a juvenile mahi offshore - electric blues, yellow-green flare, dark contrast, and just enough flash to come alive in clean water.

These small lures have developed a reputation of their own over the years. Easy to run, hard to replace, and usually gone not long after they hit the site.

Each one is handcrafted in Hawaiʻi and finished individually, making every batch limited from the start.

Aku over the rail on the Akubone. 🎣

This is one of those lures that people ask us about all the time, and the answer is almost always the same: sold out.

The Akubone is designed specifically to target aku, and it flat out produces. We make them in small batches by hand, and the reality is we just can’t keep up with demand.

Every run sells through fast, usually before most people even know they dropped.

Our email list is where we announce new production runs first, and subscribers always get priority access before anything goes public.

We don’t list Akubones on our website because there’s no point. They’re gone before they’d ever make it to the shop page. If you’ve been trying to get your hands on one and keep missing out, the email list is your best bet.
