This is what happens when you feed chickens grapes. 🍇🐔

At first they’re just yelling at me for more. Then Gert starts watching where I’m getting them from and I realize, “Oh no…it’s gotten smart.” 😂

Apparently Rosa was taking notes because the next thing I know she FLIES ON TOP OF THE PERGOLA trying to get to them.

There is literally bird netting up there specifically because of these fools.

“Girl, you better get down.”

And off she goes. 😂😂

I started the afternoon feeding my chickens grapes and ended it defending the vineyard from a coordinated attack.

I CAN’T. Look how tiny they were. 😭🐔

That awkward little stage between baby chick and full-grown chicken might be my favorite.

And then there’s Betty. 😂 Even back then she was an absolute menace. I was trying to hand-feed everyone and she just climbed ONTO MY HANDS to eat the treats like, “Excuse me, these are mine.”

Some things never change. 😂🖤

We got Clara when she was about 12 weeks old, and she hadn’t been handled much before coming to us. She’s always been one of my more cautious girls—no touching, definitely no holding, and absolutely not taking food from my hand.

I’ve spent months just letting her come to me on her own terms, and yesterday she finally did. She stood right next to me, posed for our little selfie, and then ate grapes straight from my hand. 🥹

It might seem like a tiny thing, but when you’ve spent months earning an animal’s trust, that first little “okay, maybe you’re safe” feels pretty damn special. 🖤🐔

Turns out the price of Clara’s friendship was grapes. I could’ve saved us both a lot of time. 😂🍇

The egg rainbow is finally coming together 🥹🥚🌈

10 eggs yesterday!! TEN. Apparently the girls have decided it’s finally time to start earning their keep 😂

Every time a new layer starts, I get ridiculously excited trying to figure out who laid what. And yesterday we added another gorgeous pink/mauve shade to the collection. 💕

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of opening the nesting boxes and seeing all these different colors waiting for me.

Now I’m just waiting for the magical day all 14 older girls clock in for the same shift. 😂🐔
