Season of Changes

New school year
New starts
Little friends now grown up
So many people, things, lists, responsibilities
And yet life is changing
So fast
Be kind
To yourself
Let the seasons change
Let life continue on
Because under all the change
A new you, too, emerges

In 2015, at the AROHO Writers Retreat in Ghost Ranch, New Mexico I listened to a new writer friend read her poetry under our cabin's tin roof porch while we watched a summer rainstorm. It was a magical moment that transformed the universe for me.

In reading Hiraeth by Jake Grossman, I felt that same magical moment when poetry invites you to feel something stunningly beautiful about your life. These poems offer new eyes, and transform time with your One into exceptional, awe-filled moments.

I have so many favorites in this little book, but my very favorite is Gravity, which leads to the perfect end of the Hiraeth collection.

I need more poetry recommendations. Does anyone have some favorite poems to share?

Somewhere over the last few weeks, I lost sight of my why.

Why I create.
Why I write.
Why I help other writers tell their stories.

And without the why, even meaningful work can start to feel confusing and unfulfilling.

So I gave myself the challenge to find it again and once I did it was amazing how much lighter everything felt.

Remember your why. Hold on to it. Return to it when things feel heavy or unclear.

It really does make all the difference.

Have you ever been reading a book right before you go to bed and say, “One more chapter”….until you discover it’s 3 am - and you are fighting to keep reading while you can barely stay awake?

I must choose my night reads wisely, otherwise quite guilty of this 😆

Recently, my yoga instructor shared that her two-year-old niece was so happy to see her month-old sibling that she shook with excitement.

Then she challenged us adults to identify what makes us so happy “we shake with excitement”

Last Saturday, I saw this! My books on the Lehi Utah Library shelf (after several remodels). This library was key to my early author beginnings. It has changed lots through the years. I have too.

But seeing these now after all these years left me with great excitement.

What’s something that makes you so happy you could “shake with excitement?” 💕📚 😊

I cannot separate myself from the stories that have shaped me.

The characters I’ve met, the worlds I’ve entered, and the books I’ve carried with me have all become part of who I am.

My favorite stories leave me with moments I continue to feel long after I close the book.

What is one way a story has changed you? 📚✨
