This month’s firefighter highlight

Ayden Hammons, Firefighter / EMR

In December of 2022, Ayden joined the fire department to help those in need and has learned many life skills since he started. He enjoys the tight knit community we have at the fire department and compares it to a second family.

Ayden’s brother and dad are also members of KFD making them a part of a long history of family members who have served our community together.

This picture I believe was taken in the 1950s and shows the old grocery store that used to be at the corner of 3rd Ave. and 1st Street.

As of yesterday you’re able to still see part of the old striped awning above the store front windows.

Fun fact: the garbage can lid pictured is rumored to have followed many fire departments members home.
