The rain held off, the temperatures were mild, and it was a good day to honor and remember those who have made our freedoms possible!

Father James Flynn, who is the Pastor at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church as well as a Gulf War Veteran and U.S. Army Ranger Sniper, delivered a great message:
How do we honor those who gave all so that we can be free? We exercise our freedom to choose to do what is right and good. We choose to be free to serve others.

And always in the spirit of serving others, at today’s Mt Gilead Memorial Day Celebration, member and past president Leigh Allen was recognized as a Distinguished Citizen by the Golden Triangle Rotary Club for her outstanding dedication to the gardens at the Mt Gilead Cemetery and Columbarium! 👏🇺🇲🎉

Three years ago, Leigh proposed that our club adopt these gardens, and since then she has given extraordinary time and care to their design, planting, and ongoing maintenance. The results are especially vibrant this year, with thriving daylilies, lantana, spirea, poppies, pentas, salvia, vinca, rosemary, and many other plantings creating a truly beautiful landscape.

The Keller Garden Club feels fortunate to play a part in serving our community. It is truly a blessing to have this freedom to serve others!

It was a warm, sunny day at the Dallas Arboretum! We enjoyed the morning stroll in the garden and then had a delicious lunch in the shade with a view of the garden and lake.

It’s that time of year again--weeding season! KGC has been hard at work across the library, pollinator, and xeriscape gardens.

A special highlight this season is the rose garden at Friends of Library, where new roses have just been planted—be sure to stop by and take a look when you’re visiting!

Over the past two years, we’ve focused on strengthening the pollinator garden by adding more perennials, and the results are showing beautifully! We’re seeing the return of so many wonderful plants, including sunflowers, goldenrod, black-eyed Susans, parsley, lantana, salvia, milkweed, and more.🦋

A heartfelt thank you to all of our amazing volunteers whose time, energy, and dedication make these gardens possible. We truly couldn’t do it without you!

We learned a lot from Kimberlie Sasan from BRIT what those things are attached to the leaves and stems of trees and plants growing in our garden. Galls! Completely harmless growths that provide a shelter for the larvae of various insects.

Sunshine, donuts, cookies, and a crew of productive helpers showed up today to spread cotton burr compost at the Mt. Gilead Cemetery & Columbarium Association Gardens. 🌞🍩🌿

We had time to plant some spring and summer perennials throughout the flower beds, giving the gardens a fresh start for the season.

A big thank-you to all the volunteers who rolled up their sleeves to help with a little spring cleanup, garden TLC, and getting everything ready to look its best for the season ahead.
