The parties that run smoothly aren't all about the budget, they're the ones where somebody worked backward from the party date πŸ“† and planned when to take each step. 🎈

4-6 weeks out: lock down the date, book the bounce houses, & send invitations πŸ’Œ
2-3 weeks: decide on food, check RSVPs, order the cakeπŸŽ‚, order decorations and party favors.
1 week: check yard for obstacles, verify power outlets, clean the house!
2 days out: Last minute weather 🌧 decision, always important in NOLA
Day of: charge your phone, stay hydrated, clear access to the setup area for the bounce house and take lots of photos πŸ“Έ

The call we get most often is a mom nine days out from a Saturday in Fall, asking for the Kpop Bounce house her daughter saw at a friend's house. We can always get something setup for her but something that in demand, very rarely. πŸ“…

Lead times, the way I'd give them to my own friends: 3 to 4 weeks for specific themes on any Saturday from March through October. 6 to 8 weeks for School events, Holiday parties, festivals. Now if you just want a plain red/yellow/blue bounce house or combo, we can always accommodate last minute party planners!

Booking early costs nothing extra. A unit is the same price in January as it is the Thursday before. You hold the date with $50 under $500 or 25% over, and that deposit converts to a raincheck.

Lock the date, change the theme later.

Every September a mom calls to say she read that fall parties should be dry occasions, and wants to cancel her son's water slide rental.

However, south Louisiana runs 85 to 93 degrees through September with a heat index over 100 most afternoons, and our first genuinely cool Saturday lands somewhere between October 20 and November 10.

Here's the calendar we actually use: wet through October 15. Wet/dry combo October 16–31, because a front can drop us 20 degrees and you won't know on Tuesday what Saturday looks like. Dry from November on. One rule overrides all of it if the forecast high is under 78, use it dry.

Age matters more than temperature. If your guest list is mostly under 5, skip the big slide; full-size bounce houses are a perfect choice. Ages 5 to 8 are the sweet spot for a wet combo while the weather still permits it!

Toddler Birthday Party Ideas: Renting for Ages 1 to 4 in New Orleans. Short answer: The best toddler birthday party ideas in New Orleans start with the right unit: a 10x10 kiddie bouncer, 8 to 10 feet tall, low walls, wide entry, capacity 4 to 6 kids in 10-minute rotations. Run 90 minutes starting at 10 a.m., before naps…Read more: https://bounceworldnola.com/blog_toddler_birthday_party_ideas/

The most common problem we hit isn't weather or power. It's a yard four feet too small while the kids are dressed, the cake is out, and we're standing at the fence explaining the unit won't go in your yard. πŸ“

Five minutes with a tape measure prevents this.

Measure the largest flat, clear rectangle you have, then subtract 8 feet from the length and the width. What's left is the biggest footprint you can take. A 30-by-24-foot backyard leaves about 22 by 16, while a standard bounce house or small combo will fit, a 40-foot obstacle course won't.

A 13x13 bounce house needs roughly 21x21 feet of level ground and a 36-inch gate. Combos and slides need 42 to 48 inches, measured latch post to latch post with the gate swung wide, not the fence panel.

Then look up. Three feet of clear air above the inflated height, and we do not set up under a drop line.

School just started and you're wondering if you missed the party window. You didn't β€” August and September are the best-kept secret on the party calendar here. πŸŽ’

Summer parties compete with vacations: you send 30 invitations and 11 kids show up. Back-to-school, everybody's home and on the same schedule. Our calendar also loosens up once summer camps wrap, so three weeks' notice usually gets you the unit you actually wanted.

Three things to check before you book. Your gate β€” a standard bounce house needs roughly 36 to 42 inches of clearance, and a narrow side gate is the number one reason a delivery gets rerouted. Your outlet β€” every blower needs a dedicated 20-amp breaker, not an extension cord to the kitchen. Your ground β€” grass gets staked, concrete needs sandbag ballast, and we load that before we leave.
