Bissap is traditionally a local drink in African countries that contributes to a nutritionally balanced diet. Bissap, also known by the name Sobolo, Sorrel and may be called by other names depending on the country, is a refreshing nutritious natural drink made from hibiscus flowers and other natural ingredients.

Bissap-Sobolo may help lower blood pressure; may support liver health; may help with digestion. The exact nutritional information can vary based on preparation methods, such as the amount of sweetener. We provide both sweetened with clover honey and unsweetened. Whether sweetened or unsweetened we invite you to SANKOFA to good health with Bissap-Sobolo.

Bissap-Sobolo is proven to be caffeine-free. Hibiscus, which is the base of Bissap-Sobolo is naturally calorie and caffeine-free. Rich in antioxidants, Bissap-Sobolo contains polyphenols a scientific term for antioxidant properties. Antioxidants can help protect the body from cellular damage caused by free radicals. The pigment source of hibiscus, anthocyanin, also a scientific term for antioxidant is linked to various health benefits Primarily functions as having anti-inflammatory effects, anti-cancer properties, with potential improvements in cognitive function.

Other ingredients, such as cinnamon, black pepper, Black/Red chilies, cloves and grains of selim all add their distinct health benefits. According to the USDA, 8 Fluid ounces of hibiscus tea has trace amounts of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, including Bissap-Sobolo containing iron that is essential for production of red blood cells preventing anemia.

The perfect timing for this memory...
These are not just stones, they are THE STONES OF TEARS. Stones from Cape Castle Dungeons where our Ancestors left their blood, sweat and tears at the DOORS OF NO RETURN into bo***ge and slavery to every nation around the World, including North and South America.
The art work was collected, photographed and put into designs by His Grace Nana Kweku Egyir Gyepi III. I am blessed to have been given permission to recapture some of the Stones designed of the SANKOFA Bird on t-shirts. These shirts will be available in a wide variety of sizes available to grace our Juneteenth celebrations in dignity, strength and history of the sacrifices our Ancestors on whose shoulders we stand.
