NWS Milwaukee confirms the wind damage on the north side of Kenosha last night was from a downburst, not a tornado. This downburst had widespread 60-70 mph winds with max winds up to 90 mph where damage was the worst.

Kenosha, WI experienced straight-line winds (I thought it was a tornado) at approximately 8:10pm on April 2nd, 2026. Thankfully it appears that there were no injuries and it was just some property damage with uprooted trees, but I don't know anything official yet. It reached mere blocks from where we live and we had absolutely NO idea it was happening; there wasn't a tornado siren or even a power flicker at our house! I just heard one thump and since it's been windy all week, I thought nothing of it until I read a friend's post a couple hours later. Crazy! Anyway, we went out to photograph & shoot video of some of the damage on the north side around Muni Golf Course, Jantz, CVS, Grant Elementary School, and the surrounding neighborhood between 1:45am–3:30am with my iPhone, and I'll try to get the video posted soon. I will also update this post & the comments as soon I learn more information. Please let us know if there was any damage in your area and we really hope everyone is OK! 🌪️😲
