𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝗽. "𝗦𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮 𝗱𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗼"

Some species don't need flashy patterns to stand out 👀

Native to the Sierra de Bahoruco region of the Dominican Republic, this rare Phormictopus species is admired for its beautiful contrast of a golden carapace paired with blue-green femurs that become increasingly impressive as the spider matures 💙💛

What's especially exciting is that the specimen pictured here is still a juvenile. While it has not yet developed its anticipated adult coloration, it already shows the impressive build and characteristics that make this species so promising. Imagine how spectacular it will look once those metallic gold and blue-green tones fully emerge ✨

👀 Fun fact: while the adults develop that golden carapace and blue-green femurs, juveniles actually start life in a completely different color palette — a red and blue flush across the body with reddish hairs on the abdomen. That juvenile blush slowly fades as the metallic adult coloration comes in. Two completely different-looking tarantulas in one species ✨

Like other members of the genus, Phormictopus sp. "Sierra de Bahoruco" is expected to become a large, fast-growing terrestrial tarantula with an impressive adult presence and strong feeding response. The genus has become a favorite among keepers for its size, hardiness, and often vibrant coloration✨

Still rarely seen in collections, this locality remains one of the more sought-after Phormictopus forms for enthusiasts looking to add something uncommon to their lineup.

Successful Xenesthis "Bright" pairings require careful timing, as an unreceptive female may see the male as a meal rather than a mate.

That's why breeders pay close attention to behavior, maturity, and receptiveness before attempting introductions. When everything lines up, watching these giants communicate through vibrations and courtship behaviors is one of the most exciting parts of breeding tarantulas ✨

One of the most eye-catching dwarf tarantulas in the hobby? It might just be Davus sp. "Panama" 👀

Known as the Lava Tarantula, this species combines blazing orange coloration with bold black markings that make it look like molten rock brought to life 🔥

Endemic to Panama, this species is found nowhere else in the world, making it a particularly special addition for collectors who appreciate locality-specific tarantulas 🌎✨

As a dwarf species, it stays relatively compact while still delivering incredible color and personality. They're also enthusiastic webbers, often decorating their enclosure with tunnels, retreats, and feeding mats 🕸️

This pair is a very nice high-color pure GT Purple Bar from Sundown Reptiles’ “Nightshade” line paired with a gorgeous Darth Maul melanistic Purple Bar from Leachie Garden 👀

These are going to make some killer babies.

Our goal with this pairing is to produce darker animals with that stunning purple coloration rather than red, and we absolutely love how these two complement each other.
