It’s a yearly miracle. We put seeds in dirt, put water on the dirt, watch the sun shine down on it all (hopefully), do a bunch of dilly dallying and eventually plants grow and then those plants fruit! We harvest and eat and preserve so we can keep eating into the dark of winter. Of course, there are flowers too - tall, short, fat, and thin ones. My greed for flowers knows no bounds (Sorry Cj)! But I’m in such good company with the pollinators. There are bees, hummingbirds and some bad chickens who keeps digging in garden beds.
Today the farm stand has garden bouquets and our over abundance of cucumbers! No eggs this week, I’m squirreling them away for my family coming to visit. Thank you kindly for all your support! 💛

I grew up in Idaho on a potato farm with a giant veggie garden and a whole lot of corn. Fresh corn has always been a favorite of mine! With determination, I picked out corn seeds that were quick growing and a shorter variety for the greenhouse this year. I’ve fussed over them and try to shake the stocks daily now and watch as the pollen falls to the silk.
When I’ve talked about my corn on the cob dreams here in Ketchikan everyone always says, “Well, it needs to be knee high by the 4th of July!” So needless to say, I’m full of hope to get to eat some full grown ears of corn with my family from our garden patch this year✨

Like the bees, I’ve been loving the chive flowers! Brewing up blossom vinegar, mixing up butter, and drying their tiny flowers with salt. Such a delight to process tasty food from the garden! 💜 Chive creations will be in the farm stand today along with eggs and greens that I’m harvesting right now✨
