Last night, we carried out the last boxes, turned off the lights, and closed the gate.
As I stood in an empty shop with my kids, I couldn’t help but think back to where this all started nearly 13 years ago. Whale’s Tail Quilt Shop began as a small family business with a dream, a lot of hard work, and no idea where the journey would lead.
Over the years, this space became so much more than a quilt shop. It became a place where friendships were made, skills were shared, creativity flourished, and a community grew. Many of you walked through these doors as customers and became friends. Some of you have been with us since the very beginning.
Closing this chapter is bittersweet.
There is sadness in saying goodbye to a space that has held so many memories. There is gratitude for every call for help, every conversation, every project, every laugh, and every person who chose to support us over the years.
Most of all, there is appreciation.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Thank you for helping a small family business become something far bigger than we ever imagined.
For now, Whale’s Tail Quilt Shop will be shifting to online sales only while we take time to discover what comes next.
The truth is, I don’t know exactly what the future holds. But I’ve learned that sometimes life closes one door so another path can reveal itself. What feels like an ending today may actually be a green light toward something we haven’t been shown yet.
So while this chapter is coming to a close, the story isn’t over.
Here’s to the memories we’ve made, the community we’ve built, and whatever adventure is waiting around the corner.
