Brooklyn Heavy Metal is a line of handmade, organic, sculptural jewelry with a hard rock edge. Inspired by the gritty downtown punk rock scene of the 70s and 80s NYC the brand was founded in by designer Abbi Stern in the heart of Gowanus, Brooklyn. By channeling her pastoral upbringing in Vermont through a rock n’ roll lens the designer works primarily with natural materials, many of which are discovered in the woods near her childhood home in Vermont. Using everything from bones to bark to te****les and transforming these organic materials into metal, creating an authentic line of jewelry that, in true punk rock form, refuses to fall in line with fashion’s ever-changing trends. Recently, Abbi felt called back to her Vermont home where she lives and creates today.

MoMurray MoMurray handbags are truly based on ‘the slow bag movement.’ Materials are cut with a pair of scissors, everything is sewn on an old Juki LU-562 single needle lockstitch machine, and each copper rivets are hammered by hand. Her waxed canvas bags take over six hours to make. When asked about the inspiration behind the first bag she made, she said she wanted it to be big enough to carry a 6-pack of b**r and a burrito.

Beam Paints is 100% indigenous-owned and rich in tradition and artistic legacy. Founder Anong Beam’s earliest memories growing up on Manitoulin Island, M'chigeeng First Nation, are encountering color with her parents, both practicing artists, and learning to know color as forces, personas with emotions and powers all their own. She learned how to harvest hematite pigment with her father in the La Cloche mountain range, and now continues this tradition as a paint maker. The paints are handmade in small batches with local Manitoulin honey, wildcrafted tree sap, hand gathered, washed, and sifted Manitoulin stone, and the finest lightfast pigments that are 100% non-toxic, smooth, luscious, easy to work with.

Liberty Theater Hailey print by artist Jack Weekes available Independent Goods
The Liberty Theater is a fully restored, art deco icon on Hailey’s Main Street. The original Liberty Theater was built in the early 1900’s and was located directly across the street from its present location. The Present-day Liberty Theater was built in 1938 on the site of an outdoor ice-skating rink. Jack Rutter, a local contractor known for his exceptional craftsmanship, envisioned a modern building to hold community events and screen “talking movies". The Liberty was sold in 1973 and then again in 1994 to Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, who worked to restore the historic theatre to its original glory. In 2017, Moore and Willis donated the building to the Sun Valley Center for the Arts, ensuring the Liberty Theater’s status as a beautiful and iconic performance venue would remain well into the future. In 2023 the Liberty Theater was almost demolished before Logan Fredrickson purchased and saved the historic building. The new ownership's goal is to bring the community feel back to the theatre and re-activate the space for any and all types of local events.

Vinyl is a big part of Independent Goods - a personal passion for founder Mark and so are books about music. Dust & Grooves is a photographic look into the world of vinyl record collectors—including Questlove—in the most intimate of environments—their record rooms. Compelling photographic essays from photographer Eilon Paz are paired with in-depth and insightful interviews to illustrate what motivates these collectors to keep digging for more records. The reader gets an up close and personal look at a variety of well-known vinyl champions, including Gilles Peterson and King Britt, as well as a glimpse into the collections of known and unknown DJs, producers, record dealers, and everyday enthusiasts. Driven by his love for vinyl records, Paz takes us on a five-year journey unearthing the very soul of the vinyl community.
