Some cars you own. Others just find their way back to you.
I originally imported this one and loved it so much that somehow, I ended up owning it myself, right up until now.
From the auction houses of Tokyo, to the suburbs of Boston, and back to the streets of Miami, this was the car I enjoyed the most.
One of my favorite memories with this highway rocket was driving it from Boston to Miami in just two days. Like any proper classic Benz, it was absolutely flawless. No issues. No drama. Just miles and miles of pure old-school, analog, pre-merger AMG goodness.
And when you’re doing +150 km/h and let this bad boy climb past 6,000 RPM, you really hear the devil scream from that 3.4L AMG engine. 🔥
I really felt like a Wangan driver on I-95 at 3 AM. Dumb? Probably. Unforgettable? Absolutely. Memories I’ll keep forever. I got so many of these 🤙🏻 on that trip.
That’s what makes this car so special to me.
It has character.
It has passion.
It has lore.
It’s not just another classic Mercedes. It’s a pinky-finger-missing Yakuza badass pre-merger wagon that takes the family to Trader Joe’s on Sunday after you’ve been out all night on the highway Saturday.
Also, at the school pickup line, my son loved it, and so did the other dads 😎.
And that’s exactly what makes it perfect. Functional, fun, unique, and reliable. I mean, it is a W124 after all.
It’s just a vibe.
I’ve had some incredible memories with this one, but sadly, it’s time for me to say goodbye. 👋
Some cars come and go.
This one will stay with me.
