We're getting down to the wire! Register now for our 10th annual Summer Bookmark Art Contest! Register and drop off your entry by 9/20!

Registration fee will include a 4x12 canvas. Use the canvas to show your artistic abilities. Paint, collage, pencil, whatever suits your style.

Three winning canvases will be selected to appear on special edition Books & Books @ The Studios bookmarks, which are given out with store purchase. Artists will even have the option to include their website and social media handles on the bookmark.

One grand prize winner will appear on a special edition bookmark, have their canvas show in the bookstore through the end of the year and receive a $25 Art Supply gift card from Books & Books. All contestants are eligible for the grand prize.

There's lots going on in September!

1 - Did you know that Books & Books at the Studios has a loyalty program? And it’s free to join. Join the club and for every $100 you spend on books receive a $10 credit to use storewide.

Join on our website or ask at the register the next time you're in the store.

During the month of September we'll match your $10 credit. Earn $20 for every $100 spent in September.

Unlike in years past you will need to use the credit in the month of September, but the good news they can be applied right away to your first purchase. Pick out $100 worth of books and pay only $80! Or build up your credits throughout the year and use them in September!

3 - Turn in your Bingos or completed kids sheets in our Summer Reading Bingo game by Sept. 30. Kids will get a prize with their completed sheet. Adults will get a 20% discount on their next purchase with a Bingo.

For twenty years, The Studios has grown alongside the artists, audiences and community that make this place what it is.

As we head into our 20th anniversary season, we’re introducing a new look — bold, warm and unmistakably Key West — reflecting the creativity, energy and sense of possibility at the heart of The Studios.

The look may be new, but what matters most hasn’t changed: supporting artists, inspiring creativity, and building community.

A mark drawn from the building.
Our new symbol echoes the curves of 533 Eaton Street — the waves, the sky, the shape of the place itself.

Color pulled from the island.
Studios Teal, Coral, Sunset and Glow — the water, the light and the evenings we love.

Stay Tuned: A brand new website experience is coming very soon! It will have bigger images, simpler navigation and new ways to discover the artists, programs and stories that make The Studios what it is.

Thanks to Kara O'Kane and Donna Rocco, who stopped by to sign their books ahead of their Just A Few Friends events this weekend.

Meet Kara O’Kane as part of the author showcase Saturday, September 5 from 11am-1pm in the Sanger Gallery. It will be an afternoon of storytelling, laughter, inspiration, and island culture.

Along with Kara O’Kane, the event features Scott Atwell, J.T. Simpson, H.R. Gordon, Daniele Benvenuti, Chris Lauber, and Ralph De Palma.

Meet Donna Rocco on Sunday, September 6 between 11am and 1pm at the bookstore. She will be signing copies of her book Jimmy Buffett: A Little Golden Book Biography.

Our Featured Staff Pick for September is THE CALAMITY CLUB by Kathryn Stockett, picked by assistant manager Sara.

Sara writes, "This is a historical fiction novel set in Oxford, Mississippi during the height of the Great Depression in 1933. The story follows three very different women who are all fighting an uphill battle against poverty and rigid social expectations and refuse to play by the rules."
