Have you ever seen a dryer that caught fire?
We went to a service call for a dryer that was not turning on. Upon arrival James immediately noticed soot between the cracks of the dryer cabinet.
It obviously caught fire but thankfully the fire went out on its own.
The owner was completely unaware that the machine had caught fire.
This family was extremely lucky. 😳
Nothing could be fixed here. This machine obviously had to go to scrap but this situation needs to be shared to bring awareness to the potential fire risk with dryers.
Lint is highly flammable. It's very important to make sure that your exhaust in your home is free of any clogs and that you clean your lint trap after every load, even if there's just a little bit of lint in it.
NEVER leave a machine running unattended!
Lack of cleaning and maintenance is the single leading cause, responsible for about 33% to 34% of all dryer fires.
In about 27% of cases, the first item ignited is dust, fiber, or lint.
