We're so heartbroken to hear about Chuck, our Chuckwalla statue.

We hope that there is an opportunity for our community to come together to help repair our precious Chuckwalla statue. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

We can't let vandals win. We can have nice things in our hometown.
..because breaking things is easy, but building things that are beautiful, that takes work (& community).

Don't you all think our Chuck deserves to live a good life in his natural habitat in our new Rt 66 Nature Trail? 🥺🫶🏼

‼️Update- We’ve spoken with the incredible artists who made this sculpture for our community, and we have wonderful news- Chuck will be repaired! ✨

​It takes so little effort to break something, but it takes an incredible amount of love, effort, and community support to create something beautiful.

We are beyond grateful that we aren't losing this precious piece of public art, and that Chuck will get to experience his beautiful new native desert landscape along the Route 66 Nature Trail!

Dear Kingman community,

It's with heavy hearts that we share this news.

​We're absolutely devastated about the vandalism to our beautiful Chuckwalla.

​Our deepest apologies go out to the artists who shared this incredible gift with our community.

​"Artists Solomon Bassoff and Domenica Mottarella, collectively known as Faducci, are renowned for their artistic talents and attention to detail that transform building materials into lifelike animals. An example of their ability to sculpt over a steel framework with concrete, bronze, and Italian glass is this piece entitled King Chuckwalla. Installed as a landmark piece in 2018, it was the first artwork installed in Kingman, Arizona's Art in Public Places program."

​We've lovingly named him Chuck. With children in our community currently writing illustrated stories about him for a contest for our upcoming Route 66 Nature Trail Project, we know they will be heartbroken to hear this.

​We were so looking forward to Chuck living in his native landscape once the nature trail was complete.

​We aren't sure what the future holds for this beautiful piece of public art, but we will keep you posted. It's our hope that he can somehow be repaired.

It’s been six years since we’ve done a proper “people behind the scenes” post. Since then, we’ve grown our businesses, welcomed a few new kiddos into the mix, and changed in more ways than we can count. So, perhaps it’s time for a formal reintroduction.

We’re Sarah, Andrea, and Alex, the women behind West of 3rd and the businesses that call it home.

Sarah is our big dreams, even bigger heart person. She’s the curator of all things beautiful, local, and unique, and a relentless champion for making Kingman somewhere people genuinely want to be.

Alex is our sharp, brilliant herbalist and true master alchemist. With an incredible depth of knowledge and intuition, she transforms the plants growing right here around us into powerful, thoughtfully crafted remedies that care for our skin, support our bodies, and reconnect us with the healing potential of the desert.

Andrea is our farmer, logistics wrangler, and food system planner. She loves good food, complicated spreadsheets, and building stronger connections between the people who grow our food and the communities they feed.

Together, we’ve made West of 3rd a home for the things we believe make a community special: locally grown food, beautiful and useful goods, desert-grown remedies, creative people, and businesses with heart.

We feel incredibly lucky to have one another and to share our passions with the Kingman community. Thank you for continuing to show up for us through every season of growth.
