Hello, everyone!
We wanted to share a few important changes happening at the studio and give you some insight into what the next few weeks will look like for our little clay community.
First, one of our apprentices of the past two years, Maeve, is taking the next step in her ceramic art career and heading to Florida! While we are incredibly sad to see her go, we are even more excited to see all the amazing things she will accomplish. Maeve has been an important part of our studio family, and we are so grateful for the time, knowledge, and creativity she shared with us.
We wish her nothing but success on this next adventure!
Our co-owner, Jacob, will also be taking a short-term leave from the business over the next month to be with his parents as they navigate some difficult health challenges. Family comes first, and we fully support him taking the time he needs to be present for them.
Additionally, due to the challenges of the current economy, our other co-owner, Kipp, has had to take on a second job to help support his family.
As you can imagine, these changes leave us a little short-handed, but we’re adapting.
Many of you already know Gunnar as Jacob’s partner, but he has also been part of The Clay Gurus journey from the beginning. After recently being laid off from Citibank, he has stepped in to help fill some of the gaps at the studio and will be taking on a larger role during Jacob’s absence.
Gunnar originally learned the pottery wheel from Kipp and continued developing his skills alongside Maeve during her time at the studio. If you’ve seen any of his pottery throwing videos, you already know he has developed quite a talent for it! We are excited to see him step into this expanded role and continue growing as both an artist and instructor.
You may also see another familiar face around the studio: Kipp’s wife, Ashley! She will be returning to help with the many odds and ends that keep the studio running smoothly. We’re incredibly grateful to have her support during this transition.
We ask for a little patience and grace as we navigate these changes and find our new rhythm. Change can be challenging, but we truly believe it also creates opportunities for growth. If you’ve made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read this.
The community we have built here is the reason we continue fighting so hard to keep this space alive. Our goal has always been to create a welcoming and safe environment where all people can explore their creativity, connect with others, and experience pottery, regardless of their skill level, background, or creed.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting us, believing in us, and being part of this journey thus far. We’re not done fighting yet. 💜💛💚
