Another happy client!:

I am extremely pleased with the work done on my Wurlitzer spinet piano today by Chris. My piano has not sounded so good in many years and I appreciate all of his work. He was very thorough in making sure everything worked properly. At the evaluation as well as when working on the repairs, he was very professional and thoroughly explained the needs of my piano.

In addition to being polite, he is very knowledgeable about his craft and takes great care in his work. It is a pleasure working with him.

I look forward to working with New York Piano Works and Chris in the future.

With Christopher's last appointment just completed, that's a wrap for us for 2025. 715 appointments (plus a few quick stops that probably aren't accounted for) - just under two per day, every single day! 300 new clients added. Thanks to everyone on the team - Technicians Christopher, Kerri, and Alec; Ashley and Grace in the office for being our STELLAR first point of contact; Amy and Michael who keep our books straight and our taxes paid; Liz who keeps our website running and our ads looking fresh; and especially Jennifer who picks up ALL the slack. All of this would fall apart if I were allowed to run things. It's gotten way out of hand in the best possible way, and if I get to take any credit, it's for having some sense of people's characters to the point where I knew enough to get these exact people on the team. My deepest gratitude to you all, and especially to our clients for trusting us with their pianos. See you all next year.

Barry is an honest man and a good businessman. If you know anyone in the Midwest looking to divest, we strongly recommend you reach out.

Fellow piano technician,

I’m looking to buy one or two piano-tuning businesses in the Midwest. Nothing fancy, just hoping to take over a solid client list from someone who’s thinking about retiring, moving, or simply changing gears.

If you’ve been toying with the idea of selling (or you’re just curious what your business might be worth), I’d love to chat. No pressure, no suits, no hard-sell—just a real conversation from one tuner to another.

Call or text me anytime: 501-733-6979
Or visit: https://buyorsellapianotuningbusiness.com

If you’d like your customers taken care of by someone who truly knows the craft, I would like to help.

Barry

A colleague posted this on her timeline a bit earlier today and we couldn't agree more

Dear world, a PSA: Furniture movers are NOT piano movers.

Piano moving is a specific and singular skill, which is the reason why piano moving companies exist. All they do is move pianos. That's it. Please help yourself and every piano technician in the world by using a reputable piano moving company when you next move your piano. Trust me when I say that the damage movers can do by not knowing what they're doing around pianos can be unimaginably devastating.

CONGRATULATIONS to Christopher on passing the first of his three exams toward his certification as a Registered Piano Technician.

The written exam, which must be taken first, verifies knowledge of piano history, tuning and temperament theory, regulation specifications, and repair procedures. Chris passed with flying colors, at a score of 91%!

Next up for Chris is the Technical Exam, a hands-on evaluation of both common repairs and regulation of both upright and grand pianos.

Once he passes that he will take the Tuning Exam, where he will match the tuning that three senior technicians agree on is the best possible tuning for that piano. In parts of the piano’s range, the margin for error is as low as 1 cent - 1/100th of a half step!

Well done Chris!

Congratulations to The Lumineers on today's release of their new album, Automatic. Scott was privileged to have tuned for these sessions last fall.
