VACATION
Almost that time again. Revolution will be closed for vacation beginning Tuesday, September 8th, and will re-OPEN Friday, September 25th.
This year’s journey takes me to the Colorado Rocky Mountains, where I’ll be participating in the 50th Anniversary Pearl Pass Klunker Tour in Crested Butte.
This is a pretty big deal. The Pearl Pass ride celebrates the early days and beginnings of mountain biking.
I’m nearing 52 years young, but my off-road adventures started back in the 1980s. I came across a discarded Schwinn balloon-tire bike—a “Klunker.” I quickly removed the fenders and chainguard, rode it down to the local bike shop, bought a set of treaded tires, and I was off exploring.
Then, in the late ’80s, my parents gave me a Panasonic ATB for Christmas.
Since then I kept pedaling always looking ahead to the next journey. .
This trip will also give me some much-needed time to catch up with family out West. And before heading home, I’ll be making a stop in Bentonville, Arkansas, which over the past 19 years has developed into one of the premier mountain bike destinations.
So, while Revolution takes a little break, I’ll be out riding, exploring, reconnecting with family, and celebrating the roots of the sport that has kept me pedaling all these years.
