Next Saturday (7/11) at our monthly book club, we'll be talking about Absolute Martian Manhunter, vol. 1.

This comic has been what we could call the "dark horse" series of the highly anticipated DC Absolute Universe.

Let us borrow from Maxwell Pishny at CBR to explain:
"There is one book from the Absolute Universe, however, that stands above the rest, and whose ending has ushered in a major shift for the Absolute Universe — Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez's Absolute Martian Manhunter. The 12-issue masterpiece has changed superhero comics forever...

"After even just the first issue of Absolute Martian Manhunter, DC fans could tell that it was something special. From the start, Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez's character-defining masterpiece was one of the most groundbreaking, forward-thinking, and utterly fresh takes on a comic book superhero in decades. Each page was packed with emotion, meaning, and visual beauty, and the series quickly took the DC Universe by storm.

"Originally planned to only run for six issues, Absolute Martian Manhunter became such a phenomenon that it was extended to 12 issues. With that extension came one of the most staggering achievements in modern comic book history. With each subsequent issue, Absolute Martian Manhunter cemented itself as one of the greatest comic books of all time, surpassing just about every other book releasing at the same time."

Come join us and see what all the fuss is about!

We'll be focusing on vol. 1 since the second volume hasn't released yet, but if you've been reading the singles, you're welcome to talk about the full 12-issue run as well!

Saturday 7/11 in our back room. FREE, all ages welcome (participants are generally adults). 10% the book of you haven't snagged yours yet.

Happy Pride Month! At World's End, we celebrate q***r stories and q***r creators all year, but are extra excited to talk about them during June. That's why we've teamed up with our friends at the Kingston Library for a Pride-themed discussion:

Coloring Outside the Lines: LGBTQ+ Representation in Teen Graphic Novels   Saturday, June 20 • 2pm at Kingston Library

Join us for a discussion exploring the evolving representation of LGBTQ+ identities in Teen literature and how we moved away from the concept of “problem," found in early novels” to “pride,” found in contemporary graphic novels. We’ll examine how the genre has helped tell powerful stories of identity and inclusion.

Participants are encouraged to share their personal favorites.  Open to Adults and Teens. No registration needed.

SATURDAY! We'll have Matthew Rose burg ( ) and Andy MacDonald ( ) in store to sign their new comic, If Destruction Be Our Lot, from .

2pm on Sat. 5/30.

Matthew Rosenburg has written for a variety of familiar titles, including Spawn, Joker, DC vs. Vampires, Uncanny X-Men, and Punisher, but he is also the creator of some of our favorite indie series, including What's The Furthest Place From Here? and We're Taking Everyone Down With Us.

Andy MacDonald has drawn art for just about every major comic publisher in the biz. His work can be seen in The Terminator: 1984, Dr. Strange, Wonder Woman, Planet of the Apes, Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Other great series of his include Rogue Planet and I Breathed a Body.

About IF DESTRUCTION BE OUR LOT, an ongoing sci-fi adventure about finding purpose, holding onto hope, and really lonely robots: Humanity is extinct and all that remains are the robots who once helped us.The robots who once helped us are happier now, doing their work without human interference. But not Abe. He believes there must be something more out there. After nearly getting killed, he's determined to wander the Earth until he finds it—or gets recycled trying.
