Young Zayden landed the biggest fish of his life Saturday evening at Kite Cove — this awesome 35 lb Blue Catfish!

Way to go, Zayden! That's a catch you'll remember for a long time! 🎣👏

🚜🎣 More Progress on Action Lake!

A lot more dirt was moved today, and we're continuing to see Action Lake take shape.

While digging, the crew encountered a very hard gray-white, concrete-like layer of marl/silicified claystone that the equipment simply couldn't pe*****te in some areas. Rather than stopping there, they worked around it and were able to take other areas of the lake down to approximately 8 feet deep.

That's great news and gets us much closer to the depth we wanted for Action Lake.

One important part of working around hard rock or claystone formations like this is making sure the areas around and alongside the exposed material are tightly sealed and compacted with good clay. Water can sometimes follow cracks, seams, or the edges where different soil and rock layers meet if those areas aren't sealed well.

Once everything is properly packed and the remaining banks and bottom are finished, we'll be another big step closer to having Action Lake ready to fill!

We're pleased with the progress and appreciate Ken and the crew at Southern Tree Solutions and Land Management continuing to work through what the ground gives us.

🚜🎣 A Good First Day of Progress on Action Lake!

A lot got accomplished today, and Action Lake is really starting to take shape!

The banks are being reshaped and cleaned up, and we're still looking forward to seeing some additional depth gained in the deeper areas as the work continues.

There's still more to do, but it's exciting to finally see Action Lake getting closer to what we originally envisioned.

We appreciate Ken and the crew at Southern Tree Solutions and Land Management for all the hard work they're putting into the project.

🚜🎣 BIG DAY FOR ACTION LAKE!

The equipment is here and work gets underway this morning to correct and complete Action Lake at Kite Cove!

Over the next few days, we'll be sharing photos and videos as the lake is reshaped, corrected and brought closer to what we originally envisioned.

This is another big step toward our goal of opening Action Lake for Spring 2027, featuring Channel Catfish, Bluegill, and a fun, easier-fishing option for families and anglers who want to catch fish to take home.

🎣 Our Fish Have Earned a Little Vacation! 🐟😴

After a long summer of battling anglers and dealing with the Georgia heat, we've decided to give our trophy fish a well-deserved break from tournament pressure.

There will be no tournaments during August.

Our goal has always been to grow and protect healthy trophy fish, and a short break during the hottest part of the year helps reduce stress and keep them in top condition for the cooler months ahead.

🍂 The good news...

As temperatures begin to cool, we'll be bringing tournaments back with fresh ideas and an exciting fall schedule. We can't wait to get everyone back on the bank chasing trophy catfish!

🎣 Don't worry... Kite Cove isn't closing!

We'll continue to be open for regular fishing every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during our normal business hours. Come out and enjoy a relaxing day on the water, catch a trophy Blue Catfish or Channel Catfish, and make some memories with family and friends.

🏆 What a day on the water! Fourteen-year-old Zayden proves you don't have to be a grown-up to catch trophy fish. He landed TWO Blue Catfish over 20 pounds, a 10-pound Channel Catfish, and a couple of 5-pound Channels during an unforgettable late evening at Kite Cove Fishing Lake in Kite, Georgia! Congratulations, Zayden! 🎣👏

🎣 Fishing Tip (with a little humor from today😄)

Ever notice how heavy a fish suddenly gets when you're holding the very end of the net handle?

The secret is simple...

Move your hand closer to the net before lifting. You'll have much more control and the fish will feel a whole lot lighter.

We've all been beginners at one time, and that's what makes fishing fun. ❤️
