That “great flow of divine energy” she talked about? She created that. You can feel it in the collective grief and gratitude. She’s just flying somewhere brighter and warmer. I recently journaled about monarch butterfly migration as a metaphor for generational change for good, and that’s the first thing that came to mind when I heard the news today. None of us were ready. But she left us with a fighting chance.

🎶 Evidence of a trip I won’t easily forget. I just spent a few days sailing along the coast of Maine aboard a 150-year-old schooner, serenaded by the poetic indie-folk artist Louisa Stancioff. If you’re following along, it’s because we probably share a similar taste in music, so you absolutely need to look up this soulful New England singer-songwriter. She and her childhood best friend Ellie, whose ethereal harmonies are otherworldly, provide the soundtrack to this video. There’s something deeply healing about the combination of music and the sea. It felt a bit like grown-up summer camp with song circles, night swimming, and cozy bunks.
