During our Bible study Thursday at His House of Bread we heard a bird chirping rather desperately. How a bird got in the church I know not...but there she was in what used to be the choir area! When I tried to catch her, she flew up on a ceiling fan...then into the belfry area ending up at the very top! We propped the church door open for a good half hour, but to no avail!
With no way to get her down, I left for the evening hoping that she would tire out and come down!
Friday morning I went to check only to hear her chirping, but still way up high! I left hoping for better results when evening came...but just a weak, defeated chirp!
Being concerned that she would die, I brought bird seed and water and left it on a chair praying that she would come down!
Early Saturday morning I went to check, but still no bird and no indication that she had come down to eat or drink...and now no chirping either! I was certain that she had passed...but left the food and water anyway just in case... Saturday evening brought no better news..
Not a sound!
Sunday morning I went to prepare the church for services! With a sad heart I rempved the food and water and contined preparing for the day!
What a joyful surprise God had in store for me! As I entered the belfry area to head home and get ready for church, that precious little bird flew down and got on my hand! I propped open the door so she could fly out, but she really acted like she wanted to stay!
I tossed some bird seed on the steps and walk outsude the door, and she finally flew out and started to eat...
I sat with her for about 15 minutes offering her water which she drank and drank!
She was still there when I left to get ready for church, but gone when I returned!
I shared my story in church, and after church Steve, who was also at Bible study, shared with me that when he pulled up there was a little bird crossing the road that almost got hit by a car...but made it across!
I went to see if she was possibly anywhere around and found her scavenging the grass seed and whatever else she could find! When I spoke to her she came to me looking very intently at me as if to say...thank you...and then back to work eating to make up for lost time!
Praise The Lord! Only God! It is literally a miracle that she is alive!
