It’s time to introduce our favorite married couple… Tater & Gravy 🐸🤍

These two African clawed frogs have called Plush Moon home for a little less than a year now, and if you come visit them there’s a very good chance you’ll find Gravy on top of Tater (pun absolutely intended) 😂

This is actually called the amplexus grip, where the male holds on tightly for hours (sometimes days!) to make sure he’s ready to fertilize eggs the moment they’re released. Romantic? Yes. Exhausting? Likely 😂

And about those “claws”! Contrary to popular belief, they’re not actually claws! They’re sharp, cornified toe tips used to tear apart food and grip prey!

Come meet Tater & Gravy in person! They’ll probably be busy but they don’t mind the audience 🫶🏾

Each one is an already thriving ecosystem, and not a single one are the same! Our pre-built ecosystems are available for purchase in-store only , so if you’re local come see them in person!!

ʻŌpae ʻUla are not red cherry shrimp! 🦐

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is that we’re “putting red cherry shrimp in jars.” And that, my friends, is simply not true!!!

ʻŌpae ʻUla and red cherry shrimp are vastly different little creatures that require completely different ecosystems. Red cherry shrimp live in freshwater, while ʻŌpae ʻUla are native to the underground brackish water pools of Hawaii (meaning they need that mix of fresh and salt water to survive). They also live dramatically longer (up to 20 years!), require no water changes, no filter, and they thrive in a closed ecosystem. A red cherry shrimp would not last a day in the same setup 😅

We built this little mushroom world using one of our DIY Terrarium Substrate Kits 🍄🌿

Each kit comes with all of your substrate layers, live moss, a Plush Moon water bottle, and a mini shovel! Everything you need to get building!

Glass isn’t included, but you can add it on through our website and each kit is enough to build one medium-sized terrarium!

One of the coolest terrariums we have ever built here is our gumball terrarium and she has been with us for a little over two and a half years now 🌿🫶🏾

We love thrifting for glassware because uou never know what you’re going to find! And half the fun is seeing something on a shelf and immediately thinking “that would make the most perfect terrarium.”

If you find something you love, bring it in!! We absolutely welcome customers to bring their own thrifted glassware to build with at the terrarium bar! And if you’re not a thrifter? No worries, we have tons of cool glassware in-store too (sourced by yours truly 😌)
