Gigantic Sidehill Alma!! This stunning bloom was bred by one of our wonderful Southeastern hybridizers, Ray Phillips. She is such a happy flower that you can help but smile when you see her blooming. Tubers stock is being built up as part of the Knoxville Dahlia Society’s Legacy Garden project to honor our the hybridizers in our region and help get more folks growing our heat loving varieties.

A third year seedling that I may or may not release this year. I’m leaning towards holding all my third year seedlings back for one more year of assessment and ensuring enough tubers. This one is a great cut flower with super long stems.

HS Ikie, a wonderful bloom bred by Harold Stewart who was a wonderful person. As his spirit left this world yesterday, Ikie was blooming its best. Harold’s love for the dahlias was infectious and his storytelling was singular. You will be dearly missed by all of those lucky enough to spend time with you.

On the right is KA’s®️ Honeycomb and on the left is the wee little sport I found on her today. I have several plants growing that are from tubers I saved last season from two cuttings. Last year no sports were produced so I wonder what triggered a sporting event this year. We’ve been hot but also super duper rainy (the reason the blooms look weather worn). We’ll see if this plant gives any more of these yellow button blooms cause I think they are oooooh sooooo cute!

Pear season!! Picked 25lbs tonight 🤩Gotta get out the ladder tomorrow to get the loads I couldn’t reach.

It’s not often I make large arrangements but they are such a fun creative outlet. I’ve decided I want to get better at them through practice. So I’m starting a goal to make one each week whether or not it has a destination. This one did have a destination…my friend Louise’s birthday! Happy Birthday!!!

Each week keep an eye out for a large arrangement post and I’ll let you know if it’s available in case anyone wants to give it a home.
