It is time for another employee spotlight 🔦

🌺 Meet Qurstin Massengill or as we like to call her, Q !!

It is only fitting that she began her journey here at Halls Flower Shop on Halloween 🎃
because she loves celebrating a holiday. Q’s work life and hobbies coexist because she loves planning a good party or event. She is crafty and innovative!!  She is constantly seeking out new small businesses especially local coffee shops and shows support to any community she’s involved with. She enjoys a good book, a fun project and most recently the experience of watching her little girl throughout her first year. Being Addy Jo’s mom quickly became her favorite subject!!

Q started at Halls Flower Shop as a floral designer and she has been working hard ever since. She takes the lead on multiple floral designs and projects throughout the shop especially with new ideas to incorporate fresh looks with her unique design skills. We quickly learned she just has that natural ability with her design style. She is the lead floral designer for weddings and events. She meets with brides to help with wedding flower quotes, design style, budget and setup when necessary. Since working at HFS she obtained her certificate as a wedding coordinator. She assists the storefront with customer service and the bond she forms with clients is something she highly values. When asked “what is a memorable project you have worked on?” her response was quick to say “they’re all memorable” !! This is what makes each arrangement or event she works on stand out because she truly cares about them all.

When asked if you were a flower which one would you be, she picked a peony and jokingly adds “because I’m all over the place” !!
Before finding Halls Flower Shop, Q was trying to find her place and tried a handful of jobs ranging from a donut shop to clothing stores. She became interested in Veterinary work and was a vet assistant where she clocked many hours for night shift in the vet ICU. As much as she values the veterinary assistant work, animals and people she met in that field her mental health was taking a toll. It was around 3am in that veterinary ICU where she found our indeed ad for a floral design job opportunity. She quickly took action and knew she was looking for something different.
She remembered visits with her mamaw to “aunt cella’s” who was a local florist and adored family member. She remembers being drawn to those visits as a child and the passion for floral work began.

Q says to never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone or take the risk to find something you love 🤍

What is something in the floral world that deserves more attention: Pet Sympathy

What is something your coworkers may not know about you?! I can sing and lead my youth choir as a kid. I’m also pretty good at bow fishing (picture below for credit)

Fun fact: After seeing our ad for a floral designer she quickly went home and made her own portfolio with fresh and silk flowers. She also called the shop multiple times checking on her application status. We are glad she did!! Blessed to have Q with us here at HFS. To honor her enthusiasm of portfolios we made one of some of her work pictured below!!
