In case you’ve missed it, we’ve got pansies, folks 💜🤩🎉

If you’re new to pansies, violas, and panolas, then you won’t be for long! These are a well-loved flower for a reason.

They are prolific bloomers, and extremely frost tolerant. If you’re someone who’s always seeking more color in the winter, then pansies are gonna be your best bet!

We’ve even had folks report that their pansies lasted all through the winter and well into the late spring 🤯

Not to mention, THE FOLKLORE 👏 👏 👏 Through various representations in media and storytelling, we’ve seen the sweet little faces on these flowers personified in magical ways.

Roman mythology claims Eros accidentally hit the viola with one of his arrows which caused it to smile. Celtic traditions claims the pansy face to be a window into a fairy realm. And in the Victorian Era, pansies were meant to represent secret, forbidden love and devotion 👀

Regardless of the history, these flowers have clearly been popular for centuries! It’s interesting how so many things fall in and out of fashion, but some things remain timeless 😇

What’s your favorite pansy lore/fact?

Monte is super stoked about the new totems we got in! These are Epipremnum Pinnatum Variegated 😎🤍✨

This climbing aroid has long, green leaves with white variegation that gains fenestration with maturity.

They require bright, indirect light with well draining soil and moderate to high humidity. Be sure to check that the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry before watering to prevent root rot!

MUM SPOTLIGHT 🔦✨

‘Moonglow’ is our mum of the week!! And perfect timing with the full moon this last weekend 🌕🙏

And not just any full moon, but the Harvest Moon!! The Harvest Moon is different from other full moons because for a few evenings during this cycle, after the sun sets, the moon rises even sooner than normal. 🌽🥕🥦

This causes more moonlight earlier in the evenings which was traditionally believed to aid farmers in harvesting their summer crops.

If you’re interested in learning more, the Farmer’s Almanac has a very interesting article filled with fun facts about the Harvest Moon, so definitely check it out!

Now, back to our gorgeous ‘Moonglow’ mum. Its white petals gently fade into a yellow center, and mimic the gorgeous glow of a full moon.

When caring for your mums, be sure to water from the bottom or underneath all the foliage to prevent the mounded top from splitting.

And remember, when you shop with us, all our mums are perennial here, so if you plant them in the ground, they should come back next year with proper care 🤩

Step 2: Pinching 🌹🤏

Holden’s back to tell you all about pinching poinsettias!

In the wild, poinsettias can grow up to 10 feet tall 🤯

In cultivation, pinching halts the vertical growth and stimulates lateral growth, leading to more branches to form bracts 🤓

Stay tuned for next time when we talked about Step 3: Nutrition 🥘🍴🤤

Pumpkins have arrived 🎃🍁🍂

It’s time for fall!! We can’t contain our excitement over the cooler temperatures this coming weekend 🙌😁

So, it’s time to start decorating!! Traditionally, dressing the front porch during the autumn season is intended to welcome in the fall harvest.

Decorating with mums and uncarved pumpkins and gourds at the beginning of the season symbolizes prosperity, abundance, and protection. And we could all always use a little more prosperity, abundance, and protection 😜

So take advantage of the great weather this coming weekend and come by grab a mum, a pumpkin, and a gourd to dress your front porch ✨

Hey Friends!

A little different post for you today.. Our head grower, Holden Jerrolds (husband of Abby Stanley), is traveling to Nepal next month. Along with the clothing drive, (see previous reel) Holden and his guide have decided to raise funds for an incredible organization, Mountain Heart Nepal, which is providing disaster relief in the wake of the catastrophic flooding that the country experienced on August 26th. So far 1,400 people have been found deceased and more than 6,500 are still considered missing as of this writing. The organization also provides much needed health care to rural, indigenous, and impoverished communities in a country with few available resources. If you feel so led, the people of Nepal could greatly benefit from your generosity.
