Friday night has long been pizza night at our house! It started years ago with my family! Growing up in New York, I remember my dad bringing home pizzas from the little pizzeria near our house and it signaled the weekend was here! Family time, pizza, coke, and “TGIF” on (90’s kids- iykyk)!
Recently, some of my dear friends had some NY pizzas delivered right to my door in memory of my mom and goodness, it brought back a flood of the sweetest memories! 🥹
Brad and I have continued this tradition with our kids for most of their lives! Although, Umberto’s Italian Pizzeria is not an option, we’ve done everything from making our own dough, using pre-made dough, making frozen pizzas, or just ordering take out but we all know there will always be some form of pizza on the table on Friday nights and it cues family time and a night of rest after our hectic weeks!
I had fun putting this little “pizza night” collection together at market this year. This collection includes gluten-free pizza dough mix, pizza sauce, dried meats, cheese graters, pizza cutters, serving boards, and more. Plus, a fun little mix of patterned dishtowels, notebooks, and heirloom tomato candles - the smell just like a fresh tomato.
I love the idea of putting a “pizza night” basket together as a “welcome to the neighborhood” gift, “new parents” gift or “a little comfort” gift. Pizza is 💯 comfort food! 🥰
Sometimes it’s the simplest rhythms in our weeks that keep us grounded!
Here’s to making more pizzas and more sweet memories together! 🍕
