We wish something like this were never necessary, but we are incredibly grateful to Gus’s for stepping up and offering a safe place for any young woman who feels uncomfortable, unsafe or finds herself in a difficult situation on game days.

Let’s be honest, you haven’t seen them in nearly six weeks. You’ve been counting down the days, planning the meals and imagining all the time you’ll finally have together. You want every minute, and understandably so. 🧡

But they are also tired.

They’ve spent these first weeks navigating classes, new friendships, activities, responsibilities and an entirely new level of independence. They may want to sleep late, change the plans, spend time with friends or simply sit beside you without having much to say.

Try not to take it personally.

They are learning how to navigate these young adult years, and that means figuring out how to balance the comfort of home with the independence they are beginning to build. They still need us, just sometimes in a different way than they did before. Letting your student lead doesn’t mean your excitement or plans don’t matter. It simply gives them space to show you the life they are creating and the person they are becoming.

Soak up the hugs, take the pictures and enjoy the moments, even if the weekend looks a little different from the one you imagined. 🤍🍊

We invite you to meet House & Hill. 🩵

Rush the Hill is very much alive and will continue walking alongside PNMs and their families at the University of Tennessee, sharing the education, encouragement and honest guidance that have always been at the heart of this community.

As our gifts and happies continued to grow, it became clear that the retail side needed a home of its own. House & Hill has our full blessing as she begins her own journey into new spaces and places. This simply gives our retail side room to grow without changing what you know and love about Rush the Hill. We’ll still share her gifts and happies here, so don’t worry you won’t miss those! House & Hill will just become the place to shop them all. She will always be part of the heartbeat of Rush the Hill and the community that helped bring her to life.

Initiation season is almost here. 🤍

Over the next several weeks, new members will take a beautiful step from pledging a sisterhood to becoming fully initiated members of it.

The details of each chapter’s ceremony are private, but the meaning is something every sorority woman understands. It is a day filled with tradition, promises, shared values and a badge she will wear with pride for years to come.

To all of our soon-to-be initiates, soak it in. This is one of those special college moments you will always remember. Your sisterhood is just beginning. 🤍

Parents Weekend is almost here, and along with finally putting faces to all those names you’ve been hearing, you may also get your first introduction to another Tennessee tradition:

The housing panic. 😂

Start looking. Ask questions. Learn the options. But remember that these girls are still building friendships, meeting people and figuring out what they want their sophomore year to look like.

There ARE situations where signing earlier matters, especially for larger roommate groups wanting specific floor plans. And chapter-house living may be an option for some women, depending on their chapter.

But “we need to start thinking about housing” and “WE HAVE TO SIGN THIS WEEKEND” are two very different things.
