My hand at making a dip pen for the first time. Turned out pretty well. Starting to get back into the shop. Working on the online store.

The wife wanted to hang flower baskets from the light pole. So i upgraded the crossbar to 3/4" emt. Then I got some 1 1/4" steel round bar and turned the caps. Baked at 550 degrees in the oven and hit them a little hotter with the torch. Then sprayed a clear coat on.

Overall, I'm really happy for how this one turned out.

Finished the brass rollerball. Used it in the day job today. Decided it had way too many threads in the cap. I was able to cut a few threads out.

Also got the rollstop on the cap. Ill make a couple more changes to the design. But i think overall I'm happy with this one.

After making a brass rollerball Friday night, I decided I probably needed a better mandrel to hold the pens while turning.

So tonight, I cut off a piece of steel and made one with internal and external m10x1 threads.

Now I need to order some more brass rod to do another one. In the meantime maybe ill get through some resin blanks.

Decided my lathe wont disturb the almost 2 year old sleeping. So this is the first pen ive made in over a year. Its also the first one ive made for a rollerball cartridge.

Wasnt sure where the measurements needed to hit. So it sticks out a bit more. Also ended up with an odd size so making a cap will be fun. And I haven't finished the end.

But golly did it feel good to be back in the shop.

This one is coming together faster than i expected. My wife wants to move her desk from the chilly basement, so we started a cloffice.

Got things to a point i could see I wasn't off on the measurements. I'm hoping to get things sanded and stained this week and move her in next weekend.

It's been a bit since I've made a pen. So heres one out of brass with a steel rollstop.

It's a hefty 3.7 oz and has a jowo #6 nib.

Since I didn't school myself enough figuring out that matte finish this weekend. Here's the inspiration for the next pen. I think were going to attempt a blued steeled fenial.
