Why do thrift stores smell the way they do?

Mixed funk. It's old body odour from the clothing, the musty smell from acid decaying old books, the cooked-on grease stuck in the housewares... Throw in a tiny bit of toilet and industrial floor mop solution and the smell of the shoppers, and you have that distinctive eau de thrift.
�Thrift stores do NOT clean/disinfect/use pesticides as a precaution, as others have suggested. If something comes in too filthy to be sold, it gets thrown out.

Note : Kia is absolutely right .

Goodwill sprays them with a generic deodorizer, like Febreze. Rather than getting rid of odors it masks them. This is according to former goodwill employees.

My two older offspring were looking for a few last minute Christmas gifts at our local thrift store. My daughter saw a bright blue down jacket that she thought would be perfect for her younger brother. She texted me a photo, and I could clearly see the brand name Marmot. I told her he would love it so the two bought the jacket for $3. I googled it, and full retail price was $179.

History of Thrift Stores.

Maybe, this is a good beginning because I have not been able to sell even a single egg today.'She took the eggs and walked away feeling she has won. She got into her fancy car and went to a posh restaurant with her friend. There, she and her friend, ordered whatever they liked. They ate a little and left a lot of what they ordered. Then she went to pay the bill. The bill costed her $45.00, she gave $50.00 and asked the owner of the restaurant to keep the change.This incidence might have seemed quite normal to the owner but, very painful to the poor egg seller.The point is, why do we always show we have the power when we buy from the needy ones? And why do we get generous to those who do not even need our generosity?My father used to buy simple goods from poor people at high prices, even though he did not need them. Sometimes he even used to pay extra for them. I got concerned by this act and asked him why does he do so? Then my father replied, "It is a charity wrapped with dignity, my child."

Hallodallostores LLC is located opposite Burns park and we are proud of our new location .

Burns Park, platted as a public square in1852, was the first public park in the City of La Crosse. Located on Main Street between 7th and 8th Streets, Burns Park provides a restful green space in downtown La Crosse. It was updated in 2020 with new landscaping, playscapes and chess tables.

According to Myer Katz in “Echoes of Our Past” it was originally called Main Street Park and High School Park, after the first high school located at the northeast corner of 8th and Main Streets. In 1903 the Common Council changed the name from to Burns Park to honor Timothy Burns, who had donated the land to the City.

Mr. Burns was instrumental in the founding of the City of La Crosse, and was often referred to as “the second founder of La Crosse”. He settled here in 1850 after purchasing land from Nathan Myrick. In 1851 he employed William Hood to survey the village of La Crosse and have it platted.

Timothy Burns was also a prominent figure in both State and local government He was elected the first Chairman of the La Crosse County Board and first judge of La Crosse County. Before moving here he had previously served two terms in the State Assembly, from 1846-1850. Timothy Burns was elected the 3rd Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin in January of 1852 and served until his untimely death at the age of 34 in September of 1853.
