Meet Bad Business. Don’t let his name fool you. He’s looking for a good home, preferably with someone who enjoys a little mystery and a lot of suspicious behavior.

In Robert B. Parker’s Spenser novel, a wife hires the private investigator to find out if her husband is cheating. Simple enough, right? Except the husband has hired someone to investigate her, too. Add corporate corruption and a murder, and this case becomes a whole lot more complicated than catching someone on a bad date.

His ideal adopter? A mystery lover who enjoys sharp wit, tangled secrets, and a detective who keeps asking questions when everyone wishes he’d stop.

This fellow is available for $7 at our La Grange store. Come meet him and see if he belongs on your bookshelf. He promises to keep his bad business between the covers.

Remember, buy one used book, get one 50% off every day! Bring home a reading buddy for him, too.

Plus, 5% of every used book sale this month helps local animals find their forever homes: La Grange purchases benefit the Humane Society of Oldham County, and Shepherdsville purchases benefit the Bullitt County Humane Society.

Give a book a home. Help an animal find one.

Calling our fellow small businesses in La Grange and Shepherdsville!

At From the Ground Up Books, we’d love to band together with local businesses to help people discover and shop BOTH communities.

We have a bookstore in each town, and we’d love to introduce our customers to your businesses, too! By sharing each other’s posts and recommending places to visit, we can help customers find new favorites and plan a shopping day in either community.

We’re keeping it simple to start and welcome your ideas.

Interested? Comment below, message us, or email [email protected]. Tell us about your business and where you’re located.

Let’s give people more reasons to shop local, in both towns!
