The dragonfly is finally going on the sign.

I’ve been practicing my chalk art this week and working on the new sandwich board that will be out for the September 27 Afternoon Tea and book signing.

There is something about drawing the Mystic Dragonfly Creations logo by hand that made me stop and smile.

This whole world started with me looking closer.

At a stone.
At a painting.
At the ground.
At the question:

What is this?

Now I’m getting ready to welcome people into that world in person.

Book One.
The Heartstone.
The artwork.
The Archive pieces.
The stories behind the discoveries.

And yes, the new sidewalk sign I am trying very hard not to mess up before the big day.

THIS IS NOT AN ORDINARY BOOK SIGNING.

On September 27, I’m bringing The Dragonfly Archive to Herb & Smudge Apothecary in Galveston.

I’ll be sharing original art, petrified wood, stones, bones, fossils, and personal Archive pieces discovered in the Dragonfly Portal—also known as my Galveston County backyard. These are the real discoveries that helped shape my artwork, research, and The Dragonfly Journals.

Meet APRIL LOUANN MITCHELL, see the Heartstone, explore the private Archive display, and take home signed copies of the books.

Stephen Mitchell—the Steampunk Guitar Master—will perform live acoustic guitar while we enjoy Herb & Smudge Apothecary’s Elixir Bar, afternoon tea, and yummy finger foods.

MOTHER EARTH PUT IT AT MY FEET.

This morning, I walked into the Dragonfly Portal to water my plants.

As the water crossed the soil, something surfaced beside my right foot.

Near my big toe.

A small, extraordinary piece with the appearance of ancient wood and a shape that settled into my palm as if it already knew where it belonged.

I did not buy it.

I did not search for it.

I looked down, and there it was.

Mother Earth had placed it directly in my path.

The visible patterns suggest probable petrified palmwood. Dots become lines. Ridges become grain. Every turn reveals another part of the structure.

The evidence gives me a direction.

The unanswered questions give me the story.

This one will never carry a price.

It belongs to my personal Dragonfly Archive.

But the photographs are waiting, the details are visible, and the question is now yours.

BEAR: I am officially DONE for today. 🐻

DRAGONFLIES:
✨ Absolutely not. ✨

One on the nose.
A few around the ears.
Then an entire dragonfly HALO because apparently personal space does not exist on Thursdays. 😂

And that LOOK…

Sir has had enough. 😂🐻

Even the wild gets a little rest.

Well…

It TRIES.

I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS BUILDING THE DRAGONFLY ARCHIVE.

That's the strange part.

I was painting.

Finding things.

Picking up rocks.

Taking photographs.

Researching whatever had made me stop and say:

“What IS this?”

There wasn't some enormous master plan sitting on my desk.

There was curiosity.

Then there was a mural.

And in that mural was a little flame-born fox I named Ignivar.

Then there was a Heartstone.

Then there were stories.

Then there were books.

And one day I looked around and realized all these seemingly unrelated pieces had been building the same world.

Mystic Dragonfly Creations.

The Dragonfly Archive.

The Dragonfly Journals.

That's why I keep saying:

April paints.
April discovers.
April researches.
April writes.

AVRILIS tells the stories.
