✨ Product Spotlight: Provenza MaxCore Uptown Chic

Yesterday we shared a flooring transformation in Lemon Grove featuring Provenza MaxCore Uptown Chic in Just Lucky. Today, we're taking a closer look at what makes this luxury vinyl plank a great choice for residential spaces!

Uptown Chic features a ribbed, realistic wood texture with subtle micro-beveled edges that define each plank. In Just Lucky, warm brown tones and natural-looking grain variation create an inviting, timeless look. The collection is also now available in longer plank options for those who prefer a more expansive wood-floor appearance!

But there's more to this flooring than its appearance! A 20 mil wear layer with an aluminum oxide finish and ceramic bead technology helps protect against everyday wear, while an attached underlayment pad adds comfort underfoot and helps reduce household noise. ✨ Project Spotlight: A Warm Welcome in Lemon Grove

Sometimes a flooring update is all it takes to give a home a fresh new look!

For this Lemon Grove home, the homeowners had already removed their previous flooring and were ready for the next step. Our team handled the floor preparation and installed Provenza MaxCore Uptown Chic in the color Just Lucky.

With its warm wood tones, natural-looking grain patterns, and rich color variation, Just Lucky brings a welcoming feel to the home's living spaces and hallways. It also pairs beautifully with the existing wood accent wall in the entryway!

And while the finished flooring gets all the attention, proper preparation underneath is just as important. Our team prepared the existing substrate to provide the flat, supportive surface needed for a successful luxury vinyl plank installation.

✨ Product Spotlight: Stanton Glam Rock

Yesterday we shared a carpet transformation in Del Mar, where the homeowners traded their worn, solid tan carpet for something with a little more personality. Today, we're taking a closer look at their choice: Stanton Glam Rock in Spice! 🤘

Part of Stanton's Rock Fusion Collection, Glam Rock features an abstract, distressed pattern with contrasting accents of color that draw your eye across the floor. The combination of texture, movement, and color variation creates a bold look that still works beautifully with the room's existing finishes.

Glam Rock is made using face-to-face woven construction, a technique that creates detailed patterns and a dense, structured carpet. Its blend of solution-dyed Royaltron™ polypropylene and Polysilk fibers offers practical stain resistance, a soft feel, and a subtle sheen.

✨ Project Spotlight: From Basic Beige to Bold Pattern

Sometimes a flooring update is an opportunity to bring a little more personality into a space!

For this Del Mar home, the homeowners traded their worn, solid tan carpet for Stanton Glam Rock in Spice, a beautiful patterned carpet that adds texture, movement, and a mix of warm and cool tones.

The new carpet complements the home's existing wood accents while giving the room a completely different look and feel. It's a great example of how carpet can be more than just a neutral backdrop. It can be a design feature all on its own!

And what's underneath matters, too! We installed a new 8 lb carpet pad to provide a supportive foundation that contributes to comfort and long-term carpet performance.

💡 Flooring 101: Why Professional Installation Matters

A beautiful floor is only as good as the installation behind it. These three real-life examples show why attention to detail matters.

📸 Inadequate Subfloor Preparation
The subfloor beneath this LVP was not sufficiently flattened before installation. Low spots left gaps beneath the planks, causing them to flex and bounce underfoot. Over time, repeated movement caused a locking mechanism to break, leaving a visible separation. Subfloors don't need to be perfectly level, but they must meet manufacturer flatness requirements. That's why we use professional-grade products like UZIN NC 150 self-leveling underlayment when needed.

📸 Repeating Plank Patterns
LVP has a set number of printed wood-grain patterns. While repetition is unavoidable, placing identical patterns close together creates an unnatural appearance. Thoughtful plank placement makes a difference.

📸 Poor Finishing Work
Painter's tape was left beneath newly installed baseboards and trimmed afterward, leaving visible blue pieces along the perimeter. While this doesn't affect flooring performance or warranty coverage, it's an unfortunate eyesore.

At La Mesa Flooring, our experienced team knows quality workmanship goes beyond laying planks. It's about proper preparation, quality materials, and attention to every detail. Professional installation isn't just about how your floors look on day one; it's about how they perform and hold up for years to come.

💡 Flooring 101: Why Proper Floor Prep Matters

Proper floor preparation is one of the most important parts of flooring installation, even though you’ll never see it once the job is finished.

On a recent project, after removing the existing tile, our team found areas of the subfloor with nearly 1" of variation. We used UZIN NC 150 self-leveling compound to create the flat surface needed before installation.
Why does it matter? Floating floors like LVP need consistent support. High and low spots can cause flex underfoot, stress the locking system, and eventually lead to separated joints or broken locking mechanisms. Proper prep also helps meet manufacturer installation requirements and protect warranty coverage.

Because we can’t always know what’s under an existing floor until it’s removed, when we anticipate floor prep may be needed, we include an estimated allowance in the initial proposal. When the job is complete, we reconcile what was actually used and credit back anything that wasn’t needed.

We know flooring is a considerable investment, and transparency throughout the process is important to us. That’s why we like to review proposals with our customers whenever time allows, so you understand exactly what’s included, can ask questions, and compare other bids apples to apples. No mystery in the quote, no cutting corners on the prep, and as few surprises as possible. 🤍

✨ Project Spotlight: From Tile to Stone Look

There’s a lot more to a new floor than what you see when the project is finished!

For this kitchen refresh, we removed the existing tile and discovered a subfloor that needed some attention before the new flooring could go down. With nearly 1" of variation in some areas, our installation team used self-leveling underlayment to create the flat, properly prepared surface needed for the new floor.

Once the prep work was complete, we installed Provenza MaxCore Stonescape in Moon Dancer — a waterproof rigid-core LVT with an oversized 18" x 36" tile format, realistic stone texture and painted bevel detail.
The result is the look of large-format stone tile, but with the benefits of luxury vinyl, and a completely different feel from the original flooring.

And those behind-the-scenes photos? That’s the part of a flooring installation you may never see once the finished floor is down, but it can make all the difference in how it performs over time.

✨ Product Spotlight: Anderson Tuftex Purrfection

We’ve taken a closer look at the LVP from our recent San Diego whole-home refresh, so now let’s talk about the other half of the combination: the carpet!

The homeowners chose Anderson Tuftex Purrfection in Great Plains for the upstairs and that gorgeous curved staircase. Its subtle pattern and mix of warm neutral tones pair beautifully with the COREtec Antique Oak used throughout the rest of the home.

But Purrfection isn’t just about looks. It’s made with 100% ANSO® High Performance Nylon and is designed to resist pet stains and soiling — a big plus for busy homes with four-legged family members. 🐾

The texture has a pretty interesting story, too. Purrfection was inspired by the rounded, neatly lined roof tiles of traditional Chinese architecture. Different colors of yarn are twisted together to create depth and variation, with 18 colorways to choose from.

✨ Project Spotlight: Whole Home Refresh

This San Diego home was ready for a flooring refresh! We replaced the existing carpet and laminate with a combination of new carpet and luxury vinyl plank, giving each area the flooring that made the most sense for the space.

For the stairs and landing, the homeowners chose Shaw Purrfection in Great Plains, bringing in a soft, neutral carpet that works beautifully with the existing wood railing.

Throughout the rest of the house, COREtec Originals Antique Oak replaced the older laminate flooring with a warm, natural wood look.

And yes, that curved staircase was every bit as detailed of an install as it looks. 😅
