Woods Hall Gallery and Studios Woods Hall is a Gallery and Studios featuring weaving, ceramics, jewelry and other locally hand made items. The studios are open year round.

It is a wonderful place full of teaching, sharing and learning seeking to foster and nurture community for all on Madeline Island. Woods Hall Gallery and Studios is an art gallery with adjoining studios for weaving, pottery, jewelry and other arts. We feature art made by island artists in a variety of media, including painting, ceramics, handwoven items, felt making, and jewelry. We are located in

La Pointe, WI, on Madeline Island, which is one of the Apostle Islands, on the south shore of Lake Superior across from Bayfield, Wisconsin. The gallery is open year around, please check the schedule for each month. See our website classes, special events and sales, and updates. Woods Hall was founded over 50 years ago as a community creative space, and has continued to offer the opportunity and facilities for island people to create and learn new skills. Woods Hall is a fostering and nurturing community for artisans on the island....it is a place of teaching, sharing and learning, and a haven of mutual support. Presently, over 70 artisans display items for sale at Woods Hall. About one third of the participants are year-round island residents; others reside here in the summer or have another connection to Island living. Woods Hall has a very active Friends group which supports and strengthens the association in numerous ways.

Join us this August as Carol Wright of Earth Kiln Fire teaches workshop participants to weave with clay and create their own unique pieces! Our August 9 class filled to capacity before we even advertised this in-demand workshop, so a second class has been added on August 10 from 10 am-4 pm. There will additionally be an optional glazing session on August 30th.

The class is a suggested donation of $25 and all materials are included. We advise you stop by the gallery or email [email protected] soon to register, before the limited spaces are filled!

Calling all island future fiber artists! Kathleen McCartin is offering to mentor the next generation of Woods Hall artisans free of cost through October. What that will look like is really up to you—projects can be designed to teach you the skills you want, or beginners without a preference can start with wet felting a basic scarf. Kathleen specializes in wet felting, but is happy to teach needle felting as well. Attention weavers and other fiber artists! Keldi Peterson Merton will be teaching a spinning class in our weaving studio at Woods Hall from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30th. Drop spindles that you may take home with you after the class will be provided, as will wool roving for use in the class. Additional roving will be available for purchase to continue your work at home. This is an exciting opportunity to get started with making your own yarn!
