We don’t have any farmer’s markets scheduled for this weekend, but don’t fret you can still find us Saturday and Sunday at the Warren County Old Thresher’s Annual Farm Heritage Days and it’s open to all.

To celebrate National Honey Bee Day Dillards at the St. Louis Galleria has again invited us to attend promotion of the James Avery jewelry Honey Bee Collection. Tom and I will be volunteering at the MO State Fair so Andrew will be set up with all of our products as well as educational materials to help spread great beekeeping information. Make plans to stop by and see him from 12:00-5:00pm!

Tom set up a new bee yard today and it’s awaiting its new residents! 7 two way pallets ready for 14 colonies.

Went to Lowe’s this morning to pick up some stones for setting pallets on and noticed the bees busy at work in the garden center.

This week we did a removal in the St. Charles area. The colony wasn’t very big, but they had a ton of honey stores! Guesstimating about 200 lbs of honey.

While doing this removal we noticed there had been a removal done previously. We found some old brittle comb and could see where they had cut into the house from the outside to remove the colony. Unfortunately, they did nothing to seal the space to prevent a new one from moving in. After we removed everything, Tom used expanding foam to seal any crevices and then also placed fiberglass insulation in the area to take up any remaining space.
