As we all know, I’ve been selling used bicycles in the greater Lafayette area since 2021. A lot of my business comes from the college here in town.(go boilermakers f**k IU!!) anyways a lot of of my customers are becoming repeat customers after a couple years not because of my quality of work, but because they’re being forced to leave their bicycles outside in extreme water conditions and come the following spring, their chain is so rusted the bike can’t move. The derailer has been completely flushed of all the internal grease and the hubs sound like they haven’t had grease put in them since the 1980s.. some bikes were coming back looking like they were 20+ years old because of the paint discoloration and it no longer had a look that I was willing to put my name on if that makes any sense. So I found a perfect blend of synthetic wax and all natural UV repelling oils that we now apply to every bicycle that comes through our shop whether you as a customer purchases the product or not. After leaving 20+ bicycles outside exposed to the winter, we just recently had 10 of those were LynnSealed and then we’re not.. the 10 that word were 100% completely protected. There was no rust on the chain the rear cassette/cogs or the front chain ring both front and rear derailers worked as if they were 100% brand new. The only thing we were not able to save was the grip shifters and after reaching out to seaseal they sent me a dry l**e product that last two months less than the grease application and can be installed in the shifter and brake housing and front and rear internal hubs. The 10 bikes that were completely protected we were able to spray off and simply wipe down the other 10 had to have extensive work and repairs done to them and a very thorough detail before we were able to sell those this year. After realizing that the product really does work. I started applying it to every Bike that could potentially be left outside or one that someone is just trying to simply take care of and have longevity out of. I have repeat customers that do come back and purchase the application of both for their restored vintage Schwinn bicycles and even a vintage Bianchi.
