I got VERY blessed recently with some amazing shellies 🖤
Lots (and lots) of hours spent on the hunt… getting absolutely drenched by the big surf, hammered in the ankles by coral (currently bruised lol), picking up rubbish and completely destroying my slippers — almost losing them approximately 10 times lol. 🌊
But honestly, the best part was seeing just how much LIFE was out there.
There were soooo many incredibly beautiful live shells that I kept finding and throwing back into the ocean. I didn’t have my phone on me for most of it because I really love being able to unplug when I can. No filming, no distractions — just being present in the elements, searching, and enjoying every second of it. 🤍 it’s a form of meditation to me.
It was honestly bittersweet having to throw some INSANEEEE shells back into the ocean because they had the cutest little hermit crabs and sea slugs living inside. Some hermits were completely hidden at first and only appeared after I’d been holding them for a few minutes.
I’d throw the live shellies as far back into the ocean as I could, only to watch the big waves wash them right back onto shore. 😭 I kept trying to get them back out there, hoping they’d make it safely and that no one would come along and take them.
I’ve honestly felt a little strange posting about shells when my heart has been so heavy seeing the devastation on Kauaʻi from the hurricane. My heart is with everyone affected, and Kaua’i will remain in my prayers. 🤍 I know they will hui and rebuild. It’s not easy work, and they could use all of the support right now… SOOOOO….
I want to do something to help. If you’ve been thinking about getting a piece of Nani Shells jewelry, now is the time! THIS WEEK 10% of ALL SALES (from today until 9/18) will be donated to help locals on Kauaʻi who have been affected by the hurricane.🌺
Thank you for supporting my small handmade business and, in turn, helping me give back when our islands need it most.
