☀️🦌School’s out. Hunter Ed is in session. ☀️🦌

If you’ve got a little free time this summer, it’s a great time to brush up on your hunter safety skills or complete your certification from the comfort of home.

LDWF offers multiple approved online options for completing the classroom portion of Hunter Education. All online courses cover the classroom component and let you learn on your own schedule with videos, scenarios, and interactive lessons.

⚠️ Important reminder:

Ages 9–15 must complete an in-person field day after finishing the online course

The field day is also required before certification is issued

You must bring your online completion voucher to participate

NOTE: Ages 16+ may take the online course only and receive full certification — no field day required

The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) has approved a Declaration of Emergency to modify the extended falconry duck season for 2026-27.

The date alterations are to accommodate the experimental black-bellied whistling duck season that will be held in October while maintaining consistency with federal regulation for the number of waterfowl hunter exposure days.

🗓️The East Zone season will run from Nov. 5-Nov. 20 and Dec. 7-18.
🗓️ The West Zone will from Nov. 5-Nov. 13, Dec. 7-Dec. 18 and Jan. 25-Jan. 31, 2027.
