🥣 HOMEMADE SKIN + COAT LICK MAT FOR DOGS

INGREDIENTS:
• 2 tbsp plain pumpkin purée
• 2 tbsp plain unsweetened yogurt
• 1 cooked egg, chopped
• 2 tbsp sardines in water, drained
• 1 tbsp blueberries, lightly mashed or chopped
• 1 tsp chia seeds
HOW TO MAKE IT:
1. Add the pumpkin, yogurt, egg, sardines, blueberries, and chia seeds to a bowl.
2. Mix everything together well.
3. Spread a thin layer across a clean lick mat.
4. Freeze for a few hours until firm.
5. Serve as an occasional treat or enrichment activity.
WHY THESE INGREDIENTS?
🐟 Sardines
Provide omega-3 fatty acids, which can support normal skin and coat health.
🎃 Pumpkin
Adds fiber and can support normal digestion.
🥛 Plain yogurt
Can provide protein, calcium, and live cultures if your dog tolerates dairy well.
🫐 Blueberries
Contain antioxidants and make an easy low-calorie addition in small amounts.
🌱 Chia seeds
Provide fiber, minerals, and plant-based omega-3 fatty acids.
🥚 Cooked egg
Provides high-quality protein along with several vitamins and minerals.
The licking itself can also be a calming, mentally engaging activity, especially when the mat is frozen and takes longer to finish.
Keep portions small because all of these extras still add calories. Use plain ingredients only, avoid sweeteners such as xylitol, and choose sardines without added sauces or heavy seasoning. If your dog has food allergies, pancreatitis, digestive problems, or another medical condition, check with your veterinarian before adding new foods.
