Hey neighbors !Saturday, November 21 the Art of Life Charities is hosting the Gala, Stories of the Future: Literacy in Action, in support of Literacy Volunteers of America - Prince William, Inc.

For 35 years this group has quietly helped adults in Prince William County grow the literacy skills that change family life and open new doors. The gala will be a gentle, arts-filled evening of music, entertainment, and true stories from learners and volunteers , the kind of night that makes the community feel a little smaller and kinder.

If you’re curious or want to share this with someone who cares about neighborhood stories and local arts, more info is at the link below.

Most mornings coffee is something you grab between the school run and the next errand. But every now and then you want to slow down and actually taste it.

Akida Coffeehouse, a Turkish coffeehouse tucked into Tackett’s Mill Center, is one of those tucked-away spots that makes that easy. The drinks arrive in small cups meant to be savored, the room feels quietly familiar, and conversations happen at a human pace , a neighbor catching up after drop-off, someone reading a paper, a pair sharing a sweet bite. It’s the kind of place where time stretches just enough to notice the little things.

If your routine could use a calm pause, this is a nice one to try. Read more about Akida in the article linked below.

That moment in yoga when you fold forward and realize your muscles are tighter than you remembered? Spooky. But a little gentle attention goes a long way. This Halloween, hit the mats at Pulse Yoga Studio .

Fall has a way of putting the small stuff front and center .

A comprehensive pediatric eye exam helps kids read the tiny words in a picture book, spot a friend across the playground, and follow colors during art time. If you notice squinting, less interest in close-up play, or scooting closer to the storybook , it might be time for a gentle check-in.

Schedule your child’s comprehensive eye exam at Clarkson Eyecare Virginia today!

Halloween week at Pediatric Achievements is a low-key chance to bring play into therapy. From October 26 to 30 families are welcome to have kids wear costumes during their sessions. Costumes can be a gentle way to practice language, social turns, pretend play, and fine motor skills while staying in a familiar routine.

Thank you to everyone who came out for the Fall Festival on Saturday, even with the rainy weather. It was wonderful to see you all.

Events like this only happen because of the hard work behind the scenes. Special thanks to D'Andrea Wooten, Tackett's Mill's Office Manager, for securing the permits and helping bring some of the hands-on activities to life.

We'd also like to thank Paradise Events, Lake Ridge Library, Edgemoor Art Studio, Inc. , Blue Cat Studio, Mermaid & Fairy Hair Tinsel by Barbie and Dave's Dogs.

We also want to highlight Office of Occoquan District Supervisor Kenny A. Boddye who hosted Barktoberfest, which helped spread awareness about animal welfare in our community.
