Thrift treasures AND support those in need! 💫 Helping Hands Ministries International (“HHMI”) was founded in 1992 by Vance and Faith Field upon their return from serving 17 years as missionaries with the Christian Missionary Alliance in Northern Peru. Recalling the scarcity of basic life necessities in Peru and seeing the abundance of still useful items pouring into United States landfills, Vance had a vision. It was not long after this vision that HHMI (a non-denominational, non-affiliated, 501(c)(3) organization) and Helping Hands Thrift Store opened their doors. Since that time, Helping Hands Thrift Store has not only served as a hub in the local community turning gently used items into assistance for those in need, but has also shipped over 100, 40’ containers of supplies and aid to the poorest parts of Peru. Powered by the generous donations of clothes, furniture, and household items that are freely dropped off at the Thrift Store, the Thrift Store continues to be the financial engine that funds all of our ministry and mission activities. As we’ve seen the needs of our community grow, so has our desire to have a larger community impact. Last year we launched a Voucher Program internally that aided and benefited over 120 individuals and families. Based on meeting the needs of so many, we felt God nudging us to extend this program to local churches and organizations as a means to partner with them and help them stretch their ever tightening benevolence dollars.

Meet Xiomara. ❤️

Xiomara is kind, curious, and brings so much joy!

She loves being with her classmates, joining in activities, asking curious questions, and discovering new things. This little school gives Xiomara a place to learn and grow.

And right now, this place needs our help.

If you haven’t yet heard, we have an immediate need to meet. El Niño is coming and because of it, Amor en Acción was given a list of 12 major structural and property improvements that need to be completed this fall. Meeting those requirements is important to keeping this little preschool open.

We want Xiomara and her classmates to keep walking through these doors.

The Golden Butterfly has been found! 🦋

This week, she helped one lucky shopper score 50% off this underwater puzzle and beautiful Pfaltzgraff cheese tray!

We love seeing the fun treasures our shoppers find and getting to add a little extra surprise to their thrift trip!

The Golden Butterfly has already moved on to a brand-new hiding spot at one of our four stores.

Meet Mateo. ❤️

Mateo is five and has autism. Communication and connecting with his classmates don’t always come easily.

But here, he belongs.

He’s known, loved, supported, and encouraged as he finds his voice and grows in confidence.

And right now, his school needs our help.

In preparation for the expected El Niño phenomenon, Amor en Acción was given a list of 12 major structural and property improvements that need to be completed this fall. For this little preschool, it’s an enormous undertaking and its ability to remain open is at stake.

We want Mateo to keep having this place to belong.
